I told you already about my obsession with Ellery‘s playful to-die-for kick-flare trousers that billow out in a way that’s reminiscent of a mermaid tail. Now, you see me wearing them in combination with some more ruffles, a huge trend for S/S 2017.
This morning while I was working on another post, I got an e-mail from Louis Vuitton that made my heart leap with joy and that I wanted to share with you immediately. The French Maison is collaborating with Jeff Koons for a collection called «Masters» for which the famous American pop artist remixes the iconic artworks of the old masters and presents them in a way that encourages new interpretations.
Since Marc Jacobs enlisted Stephen Sprouse to create the now-iconic graffiti range in 2001, Louis Vuitton has led the way in the fashion/art collaboration stakes. Koons, whose Balloon Dog (Orange) holds the record for the most expensive art work by a living artist after it sold for $58.4 million at Christie’s New York in November 2013, follows in the footsteps of Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Daniel Buren and Damien Hirst by partnering with Louis Vuitton.
For his collaboration with Louis Vuitton, Koons seeked inspiration from his Gazing Ball series that he started in 2013 as a series of plaster reproductions of famous ancient sculptures, each one set with a blue mirrored sphere. It’s these hand-painted Old Master reproductions that appear on the limited-edition Masters range of iconic Louis Vuitton handbags as well, from Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Titian’s Mars, Venus and Cupid, Fragonard’s Girl with a Dog, Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields and Cypressesto Rubens’ Tiger Hunt.

The name of each original artist is emblazoned across the front, and their biography and portrait are featured inside. Absolutely new for Louis Vuitton is that a collaborator features his own initials on the bags. A sign for the importance of his status.

Fans of Koons’ Inflatables series get their money’s worth; each piece is finished with a leather tag in the shape of the inflatable rabbit that Koons famously cast in polished stainless steel in 1986.
My personal three favorites are:

Louis Vuitton enriches its collection with 10 new items Objets Nomades that will be presented during Salone del Mobile in Milan from April 4th to 9th 2017.
Created in 2012, the Objets Nomades collection keeps alive Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of beautifully crafted travel objects. Some of the world’s most renowned designers have since imagined stunning travel-inspired Objets, which have then been made by Louis Vuitton. This year, two new designers have joined the collection: India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka.
“Design is about giving function a form.” India Mahdavi
The limited editions and experimental prototypes that make up the Objets Nomades collection all pay homage to the House’s special orders of the past – such as the iconic Bed Trunk produced in 1874 for French explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza – and add the defiantly contemporary visions of creative designers from around the world: Atelier Oï, Maarten Baas, Barber and Osgerby, the Campana Brothers, Damien Langlois-Meurinne, Nendo, Gwenaël Nicolas, Raw Edges, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and, most recently, India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka.
Hammock by Atelier Oï
Today, there are 25 Objets Nomades, from a hammock to a deckchair, a swing chair to a foldable stool. Each project has been an opportunity for the designers and Louis Vuitton’s creative artisans to combine their savoir-faire to interpret the idea of travel in their own imaginative ways. Each Objet embodies their shared ideals: a love of the beauty of fine materials, the possibility of forms and carefully balanced proportions, complex and meticulous craftsmanship, and close attention to detail.
These values are clearly present in the 10 Objets Nomades recently added to the collection,
such as the Campana Brothers’ playful sofa, inspired by clouds and the shell Botticelli painted for Venus;
Atelier Oï’s stunning chair, with its repurposed straps resembling leather belts;
India Mahdavi’s talisman-inspired nomade side table with its remarkable leather marquetry;
and Tokujin Yoshioka‘s blossom stool, that has been inspired by the idea from the motif of quarto foil, a stool with natural structure that symbolizes the Louis Vuitton Monograms of petals.
Some more of the 10 newly added Objets Nomades.
Over 160 years after Louis Vuitton began exploring new territories and ideas of travel, the Objets Nomades collection can be seen as proof that the House has lost none of its sense of adventure.
One night before the Louis VuittonS/S 2017 show, a hush fell over both the fashion and tech worlds when Nicolas Ghesquière posted a photo holding an amazing iPhone 7 case.
As the first model hit the catwalk, in her hands, she clasped the accessory that will soon shield the phones of every fashion lover. It’s a smart move to shrink your bag down to its smallest possible form, something you will be using every day!
Available from February 2017 for CHF 905 for the iPhone 7 and CHF 960 for the iPhone 7+.

One year after the launch of its global partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), LOUIS VUITTONlaunches its first #makeapromise day today on January 12th 2017to raise funds for children in urgent need through its global network of stores.
Nearly 250 million children live in countries affected by conflict and millions more face risks from natural hazards and fast spreading epidemics. Every day, somewhere around the world, a child wakes up to a life filled with violence, persecution and hardship. Louis Vuitton renews its promise to bring hope for a better life to these children with the launch of #makeapromise day.
During this day, in 460 Louis Vuitton stores worldwide in more than 60 countries, 12,000 Louis Vuitton Client Advisors will act as special advocates of the “LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF” partnership and promote the sales of the Silver Lockit: a product specially designed to raise funds for UNICEF.
Since January 2016, the Louis Vuitton for UNICEF partnership has helped raise $2.5m to help bring children life-saving humanitarian support in Syria and Nigeria. And in doing so, it has brought hope to children who have endured the horrors of war and deprivation. To illustrate how the contribution has made a difference, in 2016, four and a half million children and their families in Syria were protected through the lifesaving provision of water.
For each sale of the Silver Lockit pendant ($600) or bracelet ($500), $200 is donated to UNICEF.

On this occasion, Louis Vuitton renews its promise to help children and invites people all over the world to join the movement. Guests will be encouraged to come accompanied with someone close to make a pinky promise and to share their promise online with a special hashtag: #makeapromise. As a way of inviting people to spread the word, an exclusive offer will be made that day for those who purchase two Silver Lockits (offer available in all Louis Vuitton stores and on louisvuitton.com for January 12th 2017).
During the 12th Zurich Film Festival, JENNIFER CONNELLY, 45, showed up in a stunning dress on the green carpet for the premiere of «American Pastoral» with her colleague Ewan McGregor, who also directed this American crime-drama film.
Never missing a beat, Jennifer, who is renowned for being one of the classiest women in Hollywood, looked smashing in this one-piece custom leather and silk dress accented with a «Petite-Malle» clutch and sandals, all by Louis Vuitton. I especially adored her sleek-in-the-front, bouncy-in-the-back ponytail which added some class to this daring style.
One night before the screening, I had met the darling actress thanks to Asmallworld at the International Zurich Summit Dinner at restaurant Terrasse along with some of the most influental Hollywood producers, investors and agents.
Recently I was invited to dinner where all guests had to wear white. I spiced up this non-color dress code with some gold touches as you can see. It is a great way to follow the rules while still adding some excitement to your outfit.
