My Look: Never Seen Together

Today, I would like to introduce you to the unusual color combination of mint green, green and a touch of blue. As a child, the quote I’ve always heard was: «Grün und Blau schmückt die Sau,»which literally translates into green and blue is worn by a pig. After doing some research, I found out that it originates from a verse of the song «Delmenhorst» by Elements of Crime from the ’80s. However English people think the same and state, «blue and green should never be seen unless there‘s something in between.»

Personally speaking I think blue and green are gorgeous together. For this look, I added colour-pop accessories in blue hues to the mint and green combination to create an interesting mix.

My Look: Color Blocking

One episode of My Style Rocks Germany was about «color blocking,» when two or more colors are combined or stacked in blocks in mostly bright colour. I pushed the accelerator on the provocation with this bold color palette of orange, yellow and blue, featuring new pieces and vintage ones from my closet. Those vibrant hues combined stimulate energy and happiness.

My look: Orange silk jacket, blue silk shirt, and matching bag with leather tassels, all by Gucci (S/S 2011 Collection), yellow pants by Moschinohoop-drop clip earringsicon by Saint Laurent, Aevitas Pointy satin platform pumps by Versace, and silk hair band by Prada (Resort 2019).

My Look: Bold

Over the past fortnight, the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag has become a familiar sight of solidarity. By wearing this color combination to the Bold Woman Dinner with Veuve Clicquot, I wanted to send one straight and bold message: spread love not war. The world could be so beautiful if we learnt to live with each other in a peaceful way no matter our skin color or nationality.

I wish we had more female leaders – I am convinced, the world would be a better place.

My Look: Power Dressing

Mixing two vibrant colors with some neutrals and adding some sparkle – that is my kind of power dressing. This exploration of taking colors that are opposites on the color wheel, like yellow and blue, and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary color combinations, is called color blocking and something I truly like to do. This trend is said to originate from the artwork of Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian.

Pantone Color of the Year 2021

Here it is: the PANTONE Color of the Year 2021 and great news is that we are getting two as in 2016. The global color authority announced PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, two independent colors that come together to create an aspirational color pairing, conjoining deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the optimistic promise of a sunshine filled day.

As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colors of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience.

«The selection of two independent colors highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it’s not about one color or one person, it’s about more than one. The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude,» said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. «Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit
