My Look: Summer Time

Color blocking at its best with Hublot‘s new Big Bang Unico Summer Purple watch. It’s summer in the city and vibrant colors are trending. Matching your watch to your look is the ultimate style goal. I personally love the combination of lime green and fuchsia. An unexpected mixture, that feels fresh and modern.

My Look: Bold

Over the past fortnight, the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag has become a familiar sight of solidarity. By wearing this color combination to the Bold Woman Dinner with Veuve Clicquot, I wanted to send one straight and bold message: spread love not war. The world could be so beautiful if we learnt to live with each other in a peaceful way no matter our skin color or nationality.

I wish we had more female leaders – I am convinced, the world would be a better place.

My Look: Power Dressing

Mixing two vibrant colors with some neutrals and adding some sparkle – that is my kind of power dressing. This exploration of taking colors that are opposites on the color wheel, like yellow and blue, and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary color combinations, is called color blocking and something I truly like to do. This trend is said to originate from the artwork of Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian.

My look: Corduroy puff-sleeve coat, matching corduroy mini skirttulle crop top with crystals, and crystal-embellished leather clutch, all by Prada, layered mesh bodysuit by FendiHolly embellished suede knee-high boots by Paris Texassilver-tone crystal clip earrings by Alessandra Rich, and Big Bang All Black Zermatt by Hublot.

Pantone Color of the Year 2021

Here it is: the PANTONE Color of the Year 2021 and great news is that we are getting two as in 2016. The global color authority announced PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, two independent colors that come together to create an aspirational color pairing, conjoining deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the optimistic promise of a sunshine filled day.

As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colors of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience.

«The selection of two independent colors highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it’s not about one color or one person, it’s about more than one. The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude,» said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. «Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit

Usage
A marriage of strength and optimism, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating do not have to be used in equal proportions, either color can take precedence whether for apparel, beauty, home furnishings, product design or packaging.

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating in Apparel and Fashion Accessories
Illuminating punctuated by a touch of Ultimate Gray conveys a message of sunshine and strength. Enduring Ultimate Gray provides a great bouncing off point with Illuminating bringing in some brightness by way of a scarf, footwear, handbag, shawl, tops. With its energetic presence the marriage of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating are a great combination for activewear. The high visibility contrast of Illuminating and Ultimate Gray adds to its appeal for outerwear.

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating in Beauty
A mix of warm and cool tones, combining Ultimate Gray and Illuminating in hair or nail makes a dramatic statement. Illuminating sparkles and shimmers when paired with Ultimate Gray in eye make-up.

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating in Home Decor
Ultimate Gray and Illuminating are a great combination to set the mood in any room in the home adding a dose of sunshine and positivity. Juxtaposing Illuminating with Ultimate Gray in table linens, sheeting and home accessories including pillows and tabletop infuses vitality and liveliness. Painting a front door in bright yellow Illuminating conveys a warm and welcoming message when supported by solid and dependable Ultimate Gray in the exterior finishes. The ideal combination for any office whether in the home or in a commercial space with Ultimate Gray providing the firm foundation for Illuminating, a vibrant yellow that heightens awareness and enhances intuition, lighting the way to the intellectual curiosity, originality, and resourcefulness of an open mind.

Personally speaking I love this combination and wore it already today as I cannot wait for 2020 to be over. Let’s hope for an amazing 2021 without masks…

My Look: Comfy Glam

Last week, I indulged in a shopping spree at the Falconeri store in Zurich, located at Bahnhofstrasse 104 on the first floor, on top of Intimissimi. Check out today’s Instagram stories to see all the different looks. It was hard to choose. I went for this outfit because it is extremely comfortable yet stylish and glam, perfect for traveling. The color combination of dark blue, vivid green and orange is divine.

My Look: Peonies

I love peonies, they are my favorite flowers. It is such a pity that their season is very limited, usually May to June. I love their frilly ruffles of petals and it always amazes me how such a beautiful flower can bloom from such a small tight hard bud. To me, they are the most beautiful right before they die. My daughter said something very sweet to me recently: «Mum, if you were a flower, you would definitely be a peony as you get more beautiful with age

Today’s look is inspired by this gem of nature. Burgundy and pink worn together is a colour combination that I personally absolutely adore. When the two hues meet, it’s pure magic.

My look: Katerina merino wool sweatericon and Wade high-rise flared jeans, both by Ulla Johnson, platform patent-leather loafers by Givenchyicon, Aby Lock small printed leather shoulder bag by Chloé, stingray sunglasses by Louis VuittonRoyal Oak 37mm 18-karat frosted rose gold watch by Audemars PiguetJUSTE UN CLOU bracelet in rose gold with diamonds, LOVE bracelet SM in white gold, LOVE bracelet in rose gold with 4 diamonds, and CLASH DE CARTIER bracelet SM in rose gold, all by Cartier, Coco Crush bracelet in yellow gold by CHANEL, gold chunky necklace by DiorRose Céleste necklace in 18k yellow and white gold, diamond, onyx and mother-of-pearl, and Astro Dior aquarius necklace, both by Dior Fine Jewellery.

By the way, in floriography, the language of flowers, peonies represent all the good stuff: good fortune, happy marriage, riches, honour, and compassion and surprisingly, bashfulness. Cheers to that! May we all have a little peony-wisdom in our lives this spring.

OMG! Lilac – the shade, that interestingly enough, made a resurgence in winter, has been seen everywhere this season. If you don’t want to go for the head-to-toe look, combine the pastel hue with khaki for the ultimate sophistication. Put on a turban and you are ready to turn heads…

My Look: Yes Girl Yes!

Yes Girl Yes! Turquoise, light blue and red make a great colour combination. It’s almost spring and those vibrant shades announce the arrival of my favorite season. Some colours and a positive attitude will help us go through these troubled times. The coronavirus has resulted in countless changes to daily life – bars, restaurants are empty and the calls for «social distancing» to slow the spread of the virus is pretty tough on everyone. Therefore I am convinced that it is even more important to find joy in the little things and this can be a great outfit in eclectic hues. Online shopping is a safe way to get your new season pieces …

My look: Ruffle silk jumpsuiticon by Rodarte, small flap bag with top handle by CHANEL, Impatiens clip-on earrings by Oscar de la Renta, and leather platform pumps by Gucci.
