Christian Dior himself praised the timeless aura of polka dots: “they offer charm, elegance, relaxation and are always casual.“
Joyous, elegant and timeless, polka dots are at the heart of DIOR‘s summer make-up collection with confetti-strewn nails that are an invitation to dive into a fantasy-filled world.

APPLICATION TIPS
Step 1: apply a coat of polish
Step 2: dip the Dotting Tool into the second polish in the set
Step 3: dab polka dots onto the base coat
SHADES

Pastilles: an azure blue punctuated with nude beige

Confettis: a bold melon heightened with cherry red

Plumetis: a petal pink dotted with lavender mauve
DIOR Vernis with «dotting tool» (one shot) is available now for CHF 44.50.

Finally the sun is out. I love those bikini summer days with beach waves and a little tan. Here you see me chilling in St. Barths, my favorite little island in the world.
My look: Embroidered silk crepe de chine kaftan by Matthew Williamson, cutout bandage bikini by Hervé Léger, sandals by Prada, leopard print tote by Lanvin and «So Real» sunglasses by Dior.

In the end of last week, it was announced that Maria Grazia Chiuri had left Valentino, where she was co-creative director with partner Pierpaolo Piccioli. One day later, we knew where she would head to. It is quite breaking news: she will be the new artistic director at Dior, which marks the first woman in the fashion label’s 59 year history to take this position. Chiuri takes the place of Raf Simons who departed in October (for the previous post, click here please).
Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri take a bow after the Valentino couture show on Wednesday.
Somehow, it feels quite sad. Chiuri worked with Piccioli for 25 years, first at Fendi then behind the scenes at Valentino. In 2008, they were named creative directors in 2008 and brought the label into a new era.

Rockstud embellished leather sandals

Think of all the famous «Rockstuds» that gained a huge following… romance with a twist of coolness, that is what there collections have been made of. The Valentino sales rose constantly, in the first quarter of 2016, already by 9%.

It is sure that LVMH, Christian Dior’s parent company, is hoping for Chiuri bringing the same success there. She beat other contenders for the highly prized job, including Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton and ex-Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz.
Her first ready to wear collection will take place on September 30 in Paris.

Last week, I had a little fashion challenge as I got a last minute invite to a «Roaring Twenties» party. Thank God, Sandra’s Closet is full of little treasures that I have collected over many years… here is what I came up with. 1920s fashion is considered one of the most glamorous decades in fashion history. It was all about short flapper dresses in loose fitting that allowed women to literally kick up their t-bar shoes in new dances like the Charleston. The hair was worn shorter. One of the first trendsetter of this style was Coco Chanel.
My look: Gold fringed flapper dress by Bottega Veneta (Runway F/W 2007), feather stole, satin evening bag with fake fur trim, choker and earrings, all by Dior, long pearl and feather necklace by Lanvin, t-bar shoes by Yves Saint Laurent, head piece with rhinestones by Sonia Rykiel,
diamond ring and bracelet by Vainard Fine Jewellery.

“Behind the symbol of travel, we find Christian Dior’s star and the idea of a good luck charm, but also the rose, his favourite flower.” – Victoire de Castellane

From Christian Dior’s garden at Granville to the discovery of faraway lands, with Paris’ 8th arrondissement cropping up along with way, the Rose des Vents collection from Dior Joaillerie, designed by Victoire de Castellane, is a voyage on the four winds through the House’s history. It features Christian Dior’s good-luck star and the rose, his favorite flower.

The new campaign, photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, reveals a Dior woman with a natural, timeless beauty wearing the Rose des Vents creations.

This year, the medallion comes in versions with a pavé of diamonds, as well as rose gold and onyx, and has been joined by four pendants and five rings embellished with a little rope of gold that twists around the finger and follows the outline of the jewel. Being reversible, they can be worn either star or stone side out.

I love this fine jewelry collection. It is so much fun to mix and match them… and I really appreciate the craftsmanship behind that you can explore below.

Last week I was in Cannes for the Film Festival and attended some absolutely amazing events. One of them was an invite by Caroline Scheufele to join her for Chopard‘s annual grand soirée. This year’s «Wild» theme was taken literally and Diana Ross took the stage with an incredible performance in front of a digital waterfall and surrounded by thousands of palm trees that transformed the venue into a true wild jungle full of diamonds and jewels. Guests, among them Kate Moss, Petra Nemcova, Adriana Lima and Kendall Jenner, danced until late to the sounds of DJ Mark Ronson.
My look: Embroidered tulle dress, Dionysus medium embellished coated canvas shoulder bag
and leather platform pumps, all by Gucci, diamond ring and bracelet, both by Vainard Fine Jewellery, «Tribale» earrings by Dior and Tonda 1950 Set Clarity watch by Parmigiani Fleurier.

The private dinner before the party took place at the gardens of Bâoli right next to the marquee especially set up for the occasion at Port Canto on the Croisette.

In a splendid luxurious setting filled with colourful and tropical flora and fauna, next to the models wearing Chopard’s latest Red Carpet creations and vividly coloured gowns by Elie Saab, Caroline Scheufele welcomed guests to her private dinner party.

I hope you enjoyed my first impressions from this years’ film festival. More coming up soon!

«Today is a good day», a mantra we should always tell ourselves. If we feel comfortable in our skin, it is most likely to be a great one. So let’s start with the perfect outfit in the morning. Here you see me on my way to the Bulgari fragrance presentation at Shui Tang in Zurich’s Niederdorf (click here for the previous post) happy as a bug… as I really love my new shoes!

by Tibi, nude cardigan with elbow patches by Prada, belted leather jacket and fringed cracked-leather pumps, both by Gucci, Cara Delevingne studded leather backpack
by Mulberry, «Dior Split» sunglasses and «Tribale» earrings, both by Dior.

La Colle Noire is the newest addition to the Collection Privée de Christian Dior. A mysterious name for a place dear to the House of Dior.

The new sunny composition is in homage to the land of Grasse, which plays a vital role in the history of Dior fragrances, and to its flower queen, Rose de Mai. Located not far from Grasse, the Château de La Colle Noire was purchased by Christian Dior in 1951. It was, for him, a genuine haven of peace lovingly shaped by his own hand, where he grew his beloved flowers that had already become the signature of Dior fragrances.

François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator, drew inspiration from this bountiful place to build his fragrance around an intense, expressive and dense Absolute of Centifolia Rose. La Colle Noire is an incisive multi-faceted floral fragrance.

«La Colle Noire celebrates Rose de Mai melded with spices, woods, amber and musks. The Grasse Rose is unique, spicy and powerful.
It is not overly sweet, it conveys all the raw and sun-drenched beauty of this region in the south of France.»
François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator

Top Note: Rose de Mai Absolute
Middle Note: Sri Lankan Sandalwood
Base Note: White Musks
Available now for CHF 335.00 (125ml), CHF 480.00 (250ml) and CHF 675.00 (450ml).
