On Sunday April 14, 2013, you can create your own étagère at Waldraud (Josefstr. 142, 8005 Zurich). Together with the two designers Susi & Bianca from Senza Cane, Waldraud organizes three workshops (each two hours with six people) where you can produce your own “étagère” (three-tier-server). Coffee and cake will be served!

To register for the morning workshop, 10.00-12.00 o’clock click here (3 places available).
The noon workshop, 12.30-14.30 o’clock, is already fully booked.
To register for the afternoon workshop, 15.00-17.00 o’clock click here (4 places available).

What to bring with you? As you will be drilling and working, don’t wear your finest Sunday dress. You can either bring your own china (plates, cups or saucers) or take the one provided.

Price for one workshop (two hours, 1-2 étagères for you to take home):
CHF 85 + CHF 60 if you want to use the china provided by Waldraud.
CHF 85 + CHF 20 if you bring your own china and just need the stick to create the étagères.

Two weeks ago, I flew to London to attend the 4th annual Rodial Beautiful Awards held at the trendy St. Martin’s Lane hotel. I was invited by Marionnaud which carry the brand exclusively in Switzerland.

It was such a star-studded night. On the red carpet arrived some fab celebrities including Sadie Frost, Savannah Miller, Amber Le Bon and Melissa Odabash, all of which are embodying the awards’ philosophy in perfection to celebrate women of beauty, style and elegance.

Rodial had put together a truly impressive judging panel, including Mary Katrantzou, Stephen Webster and Jade Jagger. Among the winners were Rita Ora for “Most Edgy Look” and Camilla Babbington for “Freshest Face”.

On display was the latest Rodial launch BEE VENOM that will hit the shelves later this spring in Switzerland. I was lucky to test it already and can only recommend this new anti-aging range. 
A donation will be made from its proceeds to Children on the Edge, a charity dedicated to children in need.

Top Secret! The new must-have range exclusive to men has been revealed during the event with a hilarious video showing the team looking for the perfect Nip+Man! It is said to provide targeted solutions to everyday skin and body concerns, such as tired skin, sore muscles, or abs in need of a lift! Hitting the stores in May 2013.

Fashion designer Julien Macdonald was the host and the birthday boy of the night. He did such a fabulous job, being very funny and entertaining. Later, we were all toasting to him with the yummy gin-litchi cocktails served at the event…

Let me share with you some impressions of the awards ceremony:

Fashion designer Ben de Lisi

Savannah Miller, sister of Sienna Miller, handed the award in the category “Best Beauty Pages Long Lead” to Marie Claire magazine. Being a former fashion editor for German Marie Claire magazine, I couldn’t have been happier.

Swimwear designer and former model Melissa Odabash to the right with Amber Le Bon, daughter of Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon and Yasmin Le Bon, who accepted the award in the category “Classic Glamour” for her mum.

Two who like each other: Sadie Frost and hairdressing royalty James Brown, who both honoured Kate Moss with the “Special Rodial Beautiful Award”.

The amazing evening ended in true style with a DJ set from the cute Amber le Bon. I had so much fun and after having met the wonderful Rodial team, I am even more in love with the brand! Stay tuned for the outfit post coming up soon…

The last days in Vienna were amazing. Omega hosted an event of superlatives. On Saturday evening, I attended La Nuit Enchantée (The Enchanted Night) at the beautifully illuminated Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, a special celebration for the launch of the new models in Omega’s iconic Ladymatic collection with a very special guest: Nicole Kidman had flown in especially for the night from London where she is filming at the moment.

Let me tell you all about the amazing party and my enchanted moment of the night!

The façade of the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, the venue for the event, was opulently lit with decorative projections, including the brand’s iconic Omega logo, and images from the new advertising campaign.

I arrived on the red carpet and was warmly greeted by Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President and International Sales Director Omega.

Inside, the evening opened with a standing cocktail party in the palace, whose elaborate decoration with real trees suggested an enchanted forest.

We were then asked to go upstairs where an outstanding ambiance awaited us. The room itself breathed history and opulence, the decoration was truly stunning.

Following a choreographed dance performance of a Viennese waltz, Nicole Kidman entered the room dressed in an embellished, sheer F/W 2013 Oscar de la Renta gown.

The stunning actress has been the “face of Ladymatic” since its international debut in 2010 and introduced the new global advertising campaign for the collection during the event.

Omega President Stephen Urquhart welcomed us together with actor Maximilian Simonischek who served as the evening’s master of ceremonies.

Following the three-course dinner, Nicole Kidman invited the guests to move back downstairs and to enjoy dessert.

Australian singer Shelley Harland performed her original songs, including “In the Dark”, the song selected by Omega as the soundtrack for the commercial.

And then my magic moment took place…

I met the amazing Nicole Kidman in person. She is absolutely adorable.

This afternoon, I have arrived in Vienna. Omega invited me to their Ladymatic event and the La Nuit Enchantée (An Enchanting Night) which will take place tonight. Known for its captivating look, the iconic Ladymatic has been a prestigious example of the brand’s style and invention since its launch in 2010. During the weekend, the newest Ladymatic timepieces will be shown as well as the campaign featuring long-time ambassador Nicole Kidman who will be also present at the event tonight. Stay tuned as the exclusive video will be coming up here soon.

I am staying at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton and attached some photos of my spacious room. Upon my arrival, I had to have an Austrian apple strudel, so yummy!

Last night, Zurich’s first Fashion Night Out took place, so-called “Die lange Nacht der Mode”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound so fashionable in German. But I had a lot of fun at three different events that I am showing you below:

First Stop: Jelmoli

Founded in 2006 by Ilaria Venturini Fendi, who is part of the Fendi family empire, Carmina Campus is the brand that focuses on handbags, jewels and furniture out of reused materials. Each handcrafted item is a unique one of a kind piece. All of Illaria’s sustainable creations are made with care and consideration for the environment. The designer used her natural aversion to waste and her innate understanding of fashion to start an eco conscious label with a distinctive style. Therefore she is only working with already-existing materials either living their second life or unused but out of production.

With projects in Kenia addressing poverty, she helps women to start their own business, proclaiming: “It’s not charity, it’s work.” I was truly impressed by her spirit and creativity, she designs bags made out of trash bags, shower curtains, old school uniforms and so on. She even collaborated with Mini for a collection made out of color samples, material offcuts, and other castoffs from the production of the British-built convertible. Under Fendi’s direction, 50 one-of-a-kind bags were manufactured.

Second stop: H&M Showroom

The lovely H&M teamed welcomed me to their new showroom. On display was the beautiful runway collection that had been presented during Paris Fashion Week. Dubbed “Modern Drama,” the color palette was mainly about black and white with a few vibrant key pieces, like this bright red dress, very much reminiscent of the ’70s, edgy and feminine in one.

At Vestibule, fashionistas mingled to shop the new season must-haves to the sound of DJ Annina Frey. I fell in love with this amazing faded botanical printed canvas Polly small flap clutch by 3.1 Phillip Lim and the Donna hobo bag in vine green by Alexander Wang.

Sometimes you have to be lucky… and in this case it was me. Coming pack from Los Angeles to repack for Paris Fashion Week, I had the chance to attend the opening party of the new Diesel Black Gold shop-in-shop at Jelmoli which is the biggest one in Europe. Especially for the night, Andreas Melbostad, Creative Director Womenswear, had flown in from New York. I was very honoured to be among the guests invited to an intimate dinner at Clouds afterwards where I got the chance to talk to the designer of Norwegian origin who had worked for the likes of Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci and Yves Saint Laurent before.

One day after I got back from Paris Fashion Week, just one week after the amazing dinner party, Diesel celebrated its recently opened shop on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse.
And some famous guests came …

I have been meaning to show this post to you since quite a while but time just flies. Nevertheless, everything you see here, is in stores now which is a very good thing. I am sure there are some looks that have been shown on the runway of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Days Zurich International Closing Night last November that you will surely adore. So let’s get started.

Arzu Kaprol is known for her architectural femininity. A Paris Fashion week must, the designer of Turkish origin was inspired by “bones” for her S/S 2013 collection that she has kept in a muted color palette. Very pretty!

Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos is the designer behind the one of my favorite labels presented at the FDZ: Dimitri. A graduate from renowned fashion school ESMOD like me, he had worked for Jil Sander, Vivienne Westwood and Hugo Boss before launching his own label in 2007. His S/S 2013 designs are vivid and colorful, feminine and seductive.

Berlin-based designer Dawid Tomaszewski founded his eponymous label in 2009. His designs are inspired mostly by art and architecture. For S/S 2013, he came up with an extremely eye-catching collection in luxurious fabrics, of which every piece has the potential to become a favorite.

The culmination of the International Closing Night was the S/S 2013 show of New York-based designer Charlotte Ronson, who is part of the famous Ronson family. Her twin sister Samantha is a famous DJ and her brother Mark, a music producer and the face of Fan di Fendi pour Homme.

Backstage she told me that water had been her main source of inspiration for this lovely slightly romantic collection. She combined ocean’s blues and greens with light yellows reminiscent of the sun. Her all time favourite, floral prints were of course also part of Charlotte’s designs. Personally speaking, what I liked most, was the mix of feminine details with a sporty approach, which took her looks from sweet to cool. Well done!

Monday, I attended during Paris Fashion Week the Roger Vivier Cocktail to celebrate the launch of the book ‘Roger Vivier’, held at the boutique on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The tome will be available from April 2nd in the Roger Vivier boutiques and in fine bookstores.

Among the guests was Inès de la Fressange (see photo with me above), a French model, aristocat, designer of fashion and perfumes, and former muse for Karl Lagerfeld (Inès walked in the Chanel S/S 2011 runway show at the age of 54.). She has a very cute section on the Roger Vivier homepage, called “Ines’ Little Diaries”. Personally speaking, she looked absolutely stunning and was very lovely to talk to.

Today, designer Bruno Frisoni is at the helm of Roger Vivier. He’s one of the most charming designers in fashion and his witty humor can be seen perfectly in the picture I took of him at the event. He knows well how to design shoes in which ladies feel elegant.

Roger Vivier himself (1907–1998) was a French fashion designer who specialized in shoes and became famous for his stiletto heel. He was called the “Fragonard of the shoe” and many critics compared his creations to Fabergé. He designed the footwear for Queen Elizabeth II that she wore to her coronation in 1953 and the famous “buckle” shoes, Catherine Deneuve sported in the iconic French movie “Belle de Jour”, together with Yves Saint Laurent clothing.

Sunday night, I had a blast in Paris at the Purple x Bulgari dinner at the famous Café de Flore, followed by the after party at Le Montana. The room was filled with the “Who’s Who in High Fashion” and of course many celebrities such as Tilda Swinton and Adrien Brody.

Enjoy some of the impressions! It doesn’t get more “in” than here…

I truly had a blast and went to bed far too late. But when I got to my hotel room, I had a meltdown when spotting the fag burns in my beloved strapless lace and tulle dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

I truly hope that Dolce & Gabbana can save this amazing piece!
