My Look: World Oceans Day

As announced in yesterday’s post, today is World Oceans Day, the United Nations day for celebrating the role of the oceans in our everyday life and inspiring action to protect the ocean and sustainably use marine resources. We can all do something for the environment. Even if you are not close to an ocean, you can make an effort to keep your local shores clean. This also works around Lake Zurich. Don’t forget, small acts can make a huge impact.

Today, in honor of this special day, I am wearing a look from Mary Katrantzou‘s beautiful Mary Mare collection. This shell print couldn’t be a better fit.

As the LA MER Blue Heart mission will donate $25 to the LA MER Blue Heart Oceans fund for each public post that will use #LaMerBlueHeart and #LaMerDonation together, I will surely post a picture to Instagram. The power of the sea lives within us all. Therefore I kindly invite you to also share your connection with the Earth’s ocean…

La Mer Blue Heart 2020

A decade ago, LA MER made a promise to come together in support of the ocean. Being entirely committed to protecting marine habitats around the world in in hopes to ensure future flourishing seas for generations to come, LA MER launched the BLUE HEART OCEANS FUND to further the brand’s initiatives, which help support ocean conservation efforts around the world. This year, LA MER is funding organizations that focus on educating future generations by empowering them to become change agents in their local communities.

It is a success story. In the past 15 years, LA MER has donated over $5 million and has helped to support the protection of 16 million miles of unique marine habitats across the globe.

Each year, the luxury brand presents a new jar for its hero product, the famous and iconic Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream, that deeply soothes and moisturizes to help heal dryness and leave skin looking naturally vibrant. The packaging for the 2020 Limited Edition Blue Heart Crème de La Mer is characterized by a shimmering hand-painted watercolor drawing inspired by the rippling waves of sparkling seas. The limited edition is available now for CHF 500 (100ml). Important to know is that buying the product has no impact on the donation.

If you like to participate in the the LA MER BLUE HEART mission and I would love to encourage you to do so, post a picture on Instagram (your profile needs to be public) using both hashtags, #LaMerBlueHeart and #LaMerDonation. LA MER will donate $25 for each post, up to $550,000, to the LA MER BLUE HEART OCEANS FUND to support its youth awareness projects on ocean conservation.

In the journey to protect the living connection we all have to the ocean, we know that even small acts of participation can make a huge impact. Tomorrow is World Oceans Day – stay tuned for my post dedicated to preserving our environment.

My Look: Save the Ocean

Today, we celebrate World Oceans Day to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. They are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe. It is a day to celebrate together the beauty, the wealth and the promise of the ocean.

«Gender and the Ocean» is the main topic for 2019, striving to build greater ocean and gender literacy, and to discover possible ways to promote gender equality in ocean-related activities such as marine scientific research, fisheries, labour at sea, migration by sea and human trafficking, as well as policy-making and management.

La Mer World Oceans Day

June 8th marks World Oceans Day which is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. This year’s overall theme is «Our Oceans, Our Future», with the focus on encouraging solutions to plastic pollution and preventing marine litter for a healthier sea life.

iconTo commemorate World Oceans Day, La Mer has created as in previous years a special collector’s edition of its much coveted miracle cream «Crème de la Mer Blue Heart» which will be available from now for CHF 490.00 (100ml). The ultra-luxury skincare brand has long been a committed guardian in assisting with the protection of sea habitats. Inspired by its healing power and the natural regenerating properties of plants, the Crème de La Mer creator and aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber looked to the sea to transform the look of his skin.

THE MISSION

The La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund launches with a focus on protecting ocean habitats by expanding Marine Protected Areas and empowering ongoing ocean conservation projects around the globe.

This year, La Mer is taking its mission a step further through a New York City-based art walk and auction in collaboration with ocean conservation organization Project 0 and the storied auction house Sotheby’s.

Here is a glimpse of the extraordinary sea-inspired sculptures on display in New York City through the end of June.

THE LA MER
WAVE WALK

Partnering with La Mer, Project 0 brought together some of the world’s most influential artists, designers and culture-makers to create their own wave-inspired, charitable works of art.

On display in New York City during the months around World Oceans Day, the artworks will be auctioned off with all net proceeds going to ocean protection efforts. The online auction will be live until June 23rd, 2017. Sotheby’s will auction off select wave sculptures in an exclusive, live charity event on June 21st in NYC.

La Mer Celebrates World Oceans Day

senatus_eYDpCA_displayfb2 La Mer World Oceans Day 2016 (RM1780)

Since 1992 when it had been first inaugurated, World Oceans Day has been unofficially celebrated every June 8th until its official recognition by the United Nations in 2009. It is an annual observation to honour the world’s oceans, celebrate the products they provide such as seafood as well as marine life itself for aquariums, pets, and a time to appreciate its own intrinsic value.

To cherish the sea world, LA MER has launched BLUE HEART in 2014 with the commitment to support the protection of ocean habitats for generations to come and to raise awareness of the importance of healthy oceans worldwide.La-Mer-Blue-Heart-packshot

To commemorate World Oceans Day and LA MERicon’s BLUE HEART foundation, a 100ml jar of Crème de la Mer with a limited-edition design will be available from now for CHF 490.00.

LaMerBlueHeartAlways a magic moment for me: When you spot the sea of your holiday destination from the plane and you know you are going to jump in the crystal clear water within a few hours.

The brand also invites you to become an editor-at-sea and to share your story with the hashtag  #LaMerBlueHeart. Have fun!
