Goodbye Papa

Rest in Peace Papa 🖤

«My father’s love is the quiet light that will forever guide me home

Today is my mother’s birthday and though she is no longer with us, I believe she isn’t celebrating alone. My father has joined her on the way to celebrate together, just as they always did in life.

My father was the most loyal, honest, and authentic person I have ever known. A truly good soul, kind to everyone, never speaking an unkind word about anyone. He loved nature, he loved taking the train, he loved to travel and he loved horses and riding. He was sociable, funny, and always there for others. For me, he was simply the best dad anyone could ever wish for.

We shared wonderful journeys together, just the two of us, and later also with my daughter. We relived so many stories and memories on those trips.
Among the photos I’ll show today is one from Rome, our last trip together. The Eternal City will forever be tied to him in my heart. During that trip, I gave him a very special gift, a papal audience at the Vatican, an experience that filled him with joy.

Then there was Iceland, where we traveled all around the island with Anouk, and the US including Chicago, where he came to visit us while we lived there.

And there’s another very special photo from 1985, when I was ten years old. He took me with him on a business trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg because he knew how much I loved ballet. One evening, he took me to the Bolshoi Theatre, in the presence of Mikhail Gorbachev, to watch a ballet performance. That’s who he was, thoughtful, generous, and always finding joy in making others happy.

He passed away through a tragic accident. After breaking his thigh and undergoing surgery, his dementia made him forget that he had been operated on. When he tried to get up, he fell and suffered a severe head injury. The swelling and bleeding became too much for his body.
I was with him through his final days in palliative care, day and night. It was heartbreaking, but also a beautiful farewell, peaceful, full of love, just like when my mother passed away.

They were each other’s great love. I have never seen a couple with such a deep, genuine bond. So it does not surprise me that, only two months after my mother’s passing, my father followed her.

To both of you, I wish you joy and peace up there. Celebrate, laugh, and keep watching over us.
I am forever grateful and proud to have had such wonderful parents.

Dad, I love you. Always.

LoL, Sandra

Goodbye Mama

Rest in Peace Mama 🖤
October 26, 1946 – August 8, 2025

«Some bonds are written in the soul, untouched by time, unbroken by goodbye.»

One week ago, I said goodbye to my beautiful mom, a truly sensational mother, a loving wife, and a soul who adored animals, especially her dogs, with all her heart. She gave everything for us.

She called me her little Goldfish, and for 50 years, we spoke every single day. My Dad always said I was the other end of the umbilical cord that was never cut and he was right.

When she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, they gave her three months but she fought for a year and a half, facing it with courage, grace, and that unstoppable energy she carried all her life, the same energy she passed on to me. She was a true warrior.

It still feels unreal. This past week, I have felt paralyzed, lost in the silence where her voice used to be. But I know that she would want me to keep going, to follow my path, to live fully, just as she always told me to.

She taught me so much about love, resilience, and believing in your dreams. Long before it was a trend, she was manifesting the life she wanted. She inspired me not just as a mother, but as a human being.

She was my safe place, my constant, my heart. There is no part of me that isn’t shaped by her love. I will miss her laugh, her voice, her everything… but I will carry her with me, always.

Thank you, Mom, for every sacrifice, every hug, every moment. You were, and will always be, my forever home.

LoL, Sandra

Happy 50th Birthday to Me!

Happy 50th Birthday to me! Here’s to half a century of fashionable moments, wisdom, and an unstoppable love for style! May this milestone year bring me health, success, love and joy. 50 is the new fierce, and I hope to wear it effortlessly! Thank you for reading Sandra’s Closet, your support keeps me thriving.

They say «50 is the new 30». There are many reasons why you could say that. Personally speaking, I love to take my mindset over numbers – confidence, self-awareness, and wisdom make me today more fearless and open to new experiences. Unlike past generations, many people at 50 are hitting their professional peaks, starting new businesses, or even switching careers. For me, filming MY STYLE ROCKS and living in Istanbul for the past 4 months has been extremely rewarding. A new challenge, a new team, a new opportunity – all of that has added to making my life more fulfilling.

I know that I still have to work on prioritizing self-care, which will make me feel even more youthful and vibrant. In terms of fashion, I have been preaching since decades that style has no age limit. I love to explore new ideas, and live with curiosity and excitement.

Bottom line? Age is just a number – your attitude, energy, and how you embrace life define how young you truly feel! Wishing us all a year filled with glamour, adventure, and everything that makes us feel truly alive. Cheers to all of us and my next 50 years!

LoL, Sandra

Happy 13th Birthday, Sandra’s Closet!

13 years – as crazy as it sounds but I have been blogging now for 156 months, which is around 4745 days, and this is my 5289th post which means I wrote one article every day. I am thankful, Sandra’s Closet has taken me on the craziest, busiest but most beautiful ride in my life.

The last 365 days have been a total whirlwind. I almost forgot my blog anniversary with everything that is going on at the moment. Building my new home, traveling like crazy, attending so many amazing events, spending time with my family and friends while constantly blogging can be exhausting from time to time.

Cheers to 13 years!

I want to take this opportunity to send my gratitude to all of you, who are reading my posts every day. Knowing that there are people who are genuinely interested in my ideas and my style makes me very happy. It creates a space for conversation – fashion is not a monologue, it is a message you send into the world, it is the way you will be perceived in the first seconds. Thanks to you, I don’t stop – my brain is constantly on the hunt for something to inspire you.

To many more years to come!

LoL, Sandra

Sandra’s Closet Is Back

The past weeks my world was upside down…. my dear readers, please accept my sincere apologies for not posting during the past weeks. Instead of publishing daily, you haven’t received a newsletter since Easter Sunday. This has never happened in 12.5 years I am doing this job.

The reason for it was that my web host got hacked. The attack was not specifically concerning my blog, it was the host itself. Unfortunately, during the recovery process, we realized that posts had disappeared and it took quite some time to recover the work I have established since 2009. Now, everything is back, I apologize if you received some newsletters double due to the recovery process.

Those who are following me on Instagram, have seen that I have been traveling a lot the past days. I had an amazing time in New York City and Puerto Rico that I am so eager to show you. Sometimes, it also feels nice to take some time off.

I would like to take this opportunity and thank you for the wonderful messages I have received during the past days. Some of you were so sweet to wonder what was going on with Sandra’s Closet. It made me realize how much I have missed blogging.

Back on track from now… you will see a lot of posts, already published and coming up, stay tuned! Don’t get confused with the dates of the posts, I dated them back as I don’t want to loose my streak of daily posting and they had been planned for those days …

LoL, Sandra
