My Look: Black Friday

My kind of Black Friday! Due to the current pandemic, I have a phobia of long lines, and too many people. I am a big fan of online shopping anyway which also avoids pressured decisions. Don’t be tempted too much just because it is marked down. Invest in classic pieces that you will treasure forever like this outfit I am wearing in today’s post.

My favorite offer today so far? MYTHERESA offers 30% off already marked down pieces. Click here to browse through the large selection.

My look: Satin-trimmed crepe and lace blazericon, ruffled lace-trimmed wool-blend mini skirticon, cotton-blend lace bustier topicon, and leather waist belticon, all by Alexander McQueen, Bond Street 105 chain-embellished suede and mesh pumpsicon by Aquazzura, Monogramme glittered canvas shoulder bag by Saint Laurent, and Glomesh bandana necklaceicon by Prada.

Happy 11th Birthday, Sandra’s Closet!

11 years – as crazy as it sounds but I have been blogging now for 132 months, which is around 4015 days, and this is my 4559th post which means I wrote at least one per day. I am thankful, Sandra’s Closet has taken me on the craziest, busiest but most amazing ride in my life.

To honor the occasion, I thought I would share 10 fashionable fun facts about me that you might not know yet.

1. I went to a Catholic girl’s school and took my teachers shopping on class trips. In Rome for example, they bought the Moschino logo belt that has gone into style a few years ago again. Speaking of great investments.

2. Before my fashion design studies at ESMOD, I studied law. During an internship at court, I worked with the customs agents at Frankfurt airport and was really good in spotting counterfeits.

3. My first foray into working in fashion was an internship at Sonia Rykiel in Paris where I worked alongside the late designer. A very challenging yet unforgettable experience. I designed bags and T-shirts that were actually produced and have a proud spot in my closet.

4. Preferring to write about and style fashion, I started as a booking assistant at German Marie Claire magazine after my studies, and worked myself up pretty fast to fashion editor.

5. Before mytheresa.com was an online shopping platform, I created catalogs for them, the concept, layout and text.

6. Speaking of which, my favorite thing about blogging is the graphic design part, as you can see in my collages. My techniques are primarily self-taught which makes me proud. I also love drawing.

7. I was named among the most influential German fashion people in the coffee table book «Fashion Germany» along Claudia Schiffer, Peter Lindbergh, Jil Sander and many more…

8. I have started my fashion collection at the age of 16 and have kept everything. Every piece has its story and I always remember where I got or wore it.

9. I haven’t been without nail polish, both on my fingers or toes, since I am a teenager. Not one single day!

10. I have lived in Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Chicago before Zurich and my biggest dream is to open a fashion museum with my collection.

I hope you have enjoyed this little insight about my life before starting the blog.

My Look: The Art of Fashion

No one revisits the art of fashion better than Jonathan Anderson at Loewe. Offering dramatic new silhouettes, he thinks outside the box and is for me one most exciting designer in fashion at the moment. Often seeking inspiration from different artists, his designs are museum-worthy. Stay tuned for his newest collaboration coming up next week …

My Look: The First Look

This will be my first look when I am done packing! Comfy yet stylish, Isabel Marant‘s designs are always a great choice when you want to feel cool. After weeks of being in trainers and having broken finger nails, I am so ready to go out after my move. You might think I am crazy but I am a big collector of everything. Therefore we, the moving company and I, do the move in steps which is actually great. For me, the current pandemic is a blessing, I have definitely no fomo (fear of missing out). I am filled with anticipation when everything is over and the world will be my oyster!

My look: Albi draped printed silk crepe de chine midi dressicon, Azale cotton-blend turtleneck sweater, Kressy leather belticon, and Duerto embroidered leather bootsicon, all by Isabel Marant, vintage purple fringed bag with stone embellishment by Etro and  Tank Française 18-karat gold and stainless steel watch by Cartier.

My Look: Under Construction

I am moving houses at the moment. The only problem is that the new house is not ready yet and completely under construction. It is a fact, there is no way you can live there. Therefore I need to move in an interim solution and store some of my stuff. No fun, I can assure you that. However, I am not losing my smile and lend a hand with the refurbishing whenever I can. In style… of course.

My look: Intarsia knitted track jacketicon, and matching knitted track pants, both by Stella McCartney, ruffled boxy shirt in olive green by Miu Miu, heart monogram-print face mask by Dolce & Gabbana, Multi Pochette Accessories in monogram canvas and rubber LV Archlight sneaker, both by Louis Vuitton.

My Look: Morocco Style

Morocco was a constant source of inspiration for Yves Saint Laurent and it shows no signs of stopping for his successor Anthony Vaccarello. His boldly sophisticated blending of Moroccan-inspired elements has resulted in exquisite style. I adore this bohemian silhouette, rich gold tones, and the turban as a finishing touch to incorporate a bit of the beautiful North African country into my wardrobe. As I cannot travel to Morocco, Morocco comes to me. Have a great week!

My look: Cotton-velvet vest, metallic silk and Lurex-blend blouseicon, metallic striped woven tapered pantsicon, Zoe chain-embellished satin pumpsicon, Marrakech cord and silver-tone necklaceicon, Kaia mini leather shoulder bagicon, silk-blend lamé turban, all by Saint Laurent, and gold-tone crystal earrings by Etro.

They add a great touch to rubber boots and houndstooth prints. Mine are vintage Prada ones, but I will soon post an article about the best ones available at the moment, so please stay tuned!

My Look: Thousand in One Ways Sweater

In January I told you about this must-have sweater for fall the first time (click here for the previous post). Rosie Assoulin‘s «Thousand In One Ways» sweater is named for its seemingly endless styling options – the sleeves can be shrugged off your shoulders, knotted neatly around your waist or detached completely, which turns it into a cropped camisole. It’s been cable-knitted in Italy from a luxuriously soft blend of wool and cotton and has a relaxed fit.

To shop click on the highlighted product description.
