My Look: Boston

Here is my first outfit post from Boston, where I am having the best time visiting my daughter who studies here. I am staying at The Newbury Hotel, a beautifully restored and reimagined luxury hotel at the intersection of Newbury and Arlington Streets, where the bustle of the Back Bay is your playground and the idyllic Boston Public Garden your front yard.

In this look, I wear all sorts of cutouts that have recently been revisited and redesigned through the lens of high fashion. I personally love this daring trend as the attention is always yours.

My look: Embellished cutout high-rise straight-leg jeansicon by Area, cutout wool sweater, cutout stretch-knit turtleneck topicon, and Alcove mini leather tote by Valentino, and Fira velvet-trimmed suede and flocked tulle pumps in black by Jimmy Choo.

My Look: Gold Coated

While being in Boston right now, I would like to show you the first look from last weekend’s photo shoot at the beautiful Dolder Grand hotel in Zurich. This has become one of my favorite looks for the holiday season. Coated in eye-catching gold, thanks to this unexpected texture the outfit has a modern vibe. It is very comfortable to wear and the padded rubber boots will keep your feet warm during the wet season.

My look: Metallic coated cable-knit wool sweatericon, pleated metallic coated wool-blend mini skirticon, cotton-poplin shirticon, and Atelier Shoes 03 Rose Edition 3D rubber knee boots, all by Valentino, The Hacker medium hobo bag by Balenciaga.

My Look: Gstaad or St Moritz

Do you enjoy skiing in the most luxurious and sought-after resorts in Switzerland? The dilemma of whether to go to Gstaad, or St. Moritz comes down to personal preference. I used to spend my winters in St. Moritz for many years but today I prefer Gstaad.

The beautiful Gstaad Palace is my home away from home and those photos were taken inside the La Fromagerie restaurant that offers delicious cheese treats and other Swiss specialities. The Alpine resort’s blend of glamour, lifestyle, sport and pristine nature outshines everything. However you are far more certain of getting snow in December in St Moritz than Gstaad. Both have a high profile social scene. St. Moritz, touted as the ski resort «on top of the world,» and Gstaad advertises with «come up and slow down». The choice is yours and the look would work for both.

My look: Argyle-pattern rollneck jumper and matching argyle jacquard midi skirt, both by Balmain, St. Moritz Voyage appliquéd embroidered canvas clutch by Olympia Le Tan, Alminette red suede pumpsicon by Christian Louboutin, and classic large Impatiens earrings by Oscar de la Renta.

My Look: Christmas Shopping

Everyone loves department stores at Christmas and we finally have such a high-end shopping heaven in Zurich. The new GLOBUS at Schweizergasse 11in the city center is unrivalled in Switzerland with luxury fashion houses, such as Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, Loewe, Valentino and many more having their own boutiques on the ground floor. The so-called «House of Gifts» looks more magical than ever before and the selection is great.

I found for example this very hard to get limited edition bag from the Balenciaga Hacker Project and my amazing YSL advent calendarThere is even valet parking offered to their VIP customers. Christmas shopping at its best.

My look: Check tweed padded jacket in multicolor by Guccilace-trimmed velvet and floral-print wool-twill blouseicon, velvet shortsgold-tone, enamel and faux pearl clip earringsicon, and Kika patent leather slingback pumps with velvet self-tie wrap, all by Saint Laurent, Hacker tote «This is not a Gucci bag» by Balenciaga (limited edition of 600).

My Look: House of Gucci

This is the look that I would have worn to the premiere of the new House of Gucci movie this week, if I hadn’t been in quarantine. Thank God, we shot the look at the Pathé Cinema in Spreitenbach (where you have beds in one cinema, how cool is that?!) before the event.

I personally cannot wait to see the film myself as I heard so much about it and I would like to form my own opinion. A star-studded cast, fashion from the Gucci archives and a true crime story, this is a match made in heaven for me.

My look: Single-breasted cotton-blend velvet suit jacketicon, flared cotton-blend velvet suit trousers, multicolor silk pussybow blousefur-felt wide-brim trilby hatmetal double G brooch with crystalsdouble wrap ring with tiger headsTiger head ring with black enamelfaux-pearl multi-finger ringpink oversized rhinestone sunglassesicon, and crystal-embellished earrings, all by Gucciblack calf leather lace up Janis pumps by Saint Laurent.

It is one of my favorite Gucci looks ever that is part of fashion history, for more infos on the iconic red velvet suit, click here please.

My Look: Cinema

A cinema all for myself… this would be a dream coming true, especially after my trip to London this weekend. Unfortunately, I have to be in quarantine as the rules have suddenly changed Saturday night. This means, I cannot be at the Swiss premiere of the new House of Gucci movie. What a pity! Red plush seats and a full-on Gucci look … don’t you think this would have been a match made in heaven?! The movie will officially hit theaters this Thursday, December 2, 2021 in German-speaking Switzerland.

My look: Zipped GG-appliqué jacketicon, sailboat-print cotton-blend poplin dressicon, 1955 Horsebit small shoulder bag in red, Houdan Horsebit leather platform sandals, straw boater hat, GG lion head & beaded ring, snake finger ring with crystals, wide band in metal, and crystal-embellished earrings, all by Gucci.

Happy 12th Birthday, Sandra’s Closet!

12 years – as crazy as it sounds but I have been blogging now for 144 months, which is around 4380 days, and this is my 4924th post which means I wrote at least one per day. I am thankful, Sandra’s Closet has taken me on the craziest, busiest but most beautiful ride in my life.

To celebrate this beautiful occasion, I have an amazing contest for you. You can win two tickets for the Swiss premiere of the new movie HOUSE OF GUCCI on November 30th, 2021 which will take place at the Pathé Cinema in Spreitenbach (doors open at 6.30pm, movie starts at 8pm). Opened in 2019, it is the most modern cinema of all experiences with 10 rooms that are all equipped with comfortable seats (or beds) and the best image. The movie will officially hit the theaters in German-speaking Switzerland on December 2, 2021.

HOUSE OF GUCCI is the newest production from producer and director Ridley Scott with the most star-studded casts. Among the many recognizable faces are Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and Salma Hayek. Based on the book by journalist Sara Gay Forden, that I read many years ago, it tells the true story of the feuding Italian dynasty that culminated when Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), the glamorous socialite, was charged with arranging the murder of her husband Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) in 1997. The movie is the perfect mixture of true crime and fashion. It shows some incredible Eighties fashion, styled by costume designer Janty Yates who was able to browse through the Gucci’s archives.

Here is your chance to win! Enjoy this new blockbuster movie in a plush cinema seat with popcorn and champagne. To win the two tickets for the Swiss premiere, visit my Instagram page and comment on this picture. I will announce the winner on Friday this week.

Good luck and thank you for reading Sandra’s Closet! I will also be at the premiere and cannot wait to see you and indulge in this blockbuster movie together!

My Look: Fab

Bringing Versailles to the street, here is another outfit from Moschino‘s fab F/W 2020 collection that I love so much. Inspired by the gilded extravagances of Marie Antoinette, this look is envisioned with both grand theater and good humor. Full of fun and fantasy, fabulous fashion let’s us dream and play dress-up. Something we definitely need today.

My look: Flared-sleeve mini dressthigh-high boots, and bow-embellished pillow clutch, all by Moschino, and vintage multi-strand couture pearl choker necklace by Dior.

My Look: Modern Marie Antoinette

Centuries after Marie Antoinette met her fate at the guillotine, her influence remains unshakeable. The French Queen serves as a constant source of inspiration for many fashion designers. When Jeremy Scott needed a gimmick for his Moschino F/W 2020 show, Marie Antoinette was there at the ready. Here you see me wearing one of the looks with a beautiful toile de jouy print on denim. I think this is something that Marie Antoinette would wear today.

My look: Graphic-print denim coat, jabot-collar blouse, cropped pants in printed denim, all by Moschino, Mage metallic embroidered velvet ankle bootsicon by Manolo BlahnikConstance 18 Mini noir black alligator mat with lizard buckle by Hermès, and  gold-plated glass pearl cameo clip earringsicon by Dolce & Gabbana.

My Look: Chill

I am enjoying a few days at the beautiful Baur au Lac, where I can chill and work at the same time. This maritime look is cozy, yet stylish and the perfect transitional outfit for fall. With the jacket closed, it is very conservative. Once you show the bralette, it gets a sexy twist.

My look: Knitted double-breasted bar jacket with stripes, sailor pants, bralette in navy blue and ecru Dior Oblique technical cotton, and Oblique saddle bag, all by DiorRose Céleste necklace, Rose des Vents and Rose Céleste necklace, Astro Dior aquarius necklace, Rose Céleste medaillon necklace, all by Dior Fine Jewelry, and Kurillos chain-embellished leather pumpsicon by Manolo Blahnik.
