Celebrating International Women’s Day

On Friday evening, I celebrated International Women’s Day among my beloved girlfriends at the St. Gotthard Hotel in Zurich where Ljuba Manz and Raquel Marquard hosted an event with Jelmoli filled with everything you can dream of, shoes, a runway show, champagne and laughter.

With Raquel Marquard to the left and Ljuba Manz to the right.

Silvia Affolter moderated the night in a very fun way. First, we all had a closer look at a selection of shoes that would make every girl’s heart leap with joy. Brands such as Alexandre Vauthier (one of my favorites at the moment), Sophia Webster and Charlotte Olympia were on display as well as jewelry by Austrian jeweler A.E. Köchert.

The fashion show – inspired by St. Tropez – included a lingerie part in collaboration with Beldona. Beautiful lace ensembles – one in combination with a lace mask – got the audience in awe.

A young label from Switzerland, only 3 years old, Ina Kess was introduced. Two beautiful sisters, Katharina and Isabelle Staub, who both studied economics, launched the label in order to fulfill their own need. They design pieces that work for the office, for a night out and in which you can also attend your yoga class. Katharina explained how annoyed she was to carry around a bag of clothes to have everything she needed with her.

Ljuba entertained us amazingly with some fun statements how to treat men well.

Jelmoli presented also looks from renowned designers such as Moschino, Missoni, Peter Pilotto and 3.1. Phillip Lim. The so-called «House of Brands» really shifted during the past years under the helmet of CEO Franco Savastano and has transformed itself into a true luxury haven. Soon, the whole beauty department on the ground floor will also go through renovation. Ladies, no need to fly to London or Paris any longer… we will soon have our own little «Harrods» or «Galeries Lafayette» in Zurich.

Franco Savastano, CEO Jelmoli, had every reason to smile that night, being one of the only men allowed in the room enjoying the fabulous show.

Guests of the night were invited after the fashion show to the presidential suite where they were able to shop everything that was presented on the runway. If you like any look or shoe below, just show the photo to a sales person at Jelmoli. They will happily help you.

I am so in love with these Alexandre Vauthier sandals.

The only recommendation I have and this comes on a very personal note, please include also smaller sizes in your buying, as well as half sizes for shoes!

By the way, the gentlemen enjoyed a great dinner and a Patoro cigar at the iconic Hummerbar next door…

Show Your Angel Wings

Nowadays, there is a new style that utilizes angel wings as a fashion statement most likely thanks to the Victoria’s Secret Angels who are sporting their wings on the famous lingerie runway.
Personally speaking when it comes to an angel-wing piece, I feel a terrible obsession to go for it… it is somehow innocent and seductive at once.

Accessories Trend: Pompom Everything

This accessories trend is pure fun and has become one of my favorites. Pompom embellished pieces have been popping up everywhere since last summer (remember those to-die-for pompom boho sandals?!). This colorful accent is fun and flirty – I adore the way these colorful little balls look hanging off the straps of a pair of beachy summer flats, on a straw hat or a great beach bag. It just puts me in a good mood.

Here are my favorite pompom-accented pieces that are sure to complete your summer wardrobe!

And great news is these little pom-poms are here to stay for winter… for winter those cute balls come in all sorts of fur, best seen at Fendi:

Even Cinderella Would Be Jealous

Even Cinderella would be jealous of the shoe of 2017, mules of all shapes and sizes have been spotted allover. My new favorite? A version that’s been reinvented with a vintage Barbie feel in gorgeous nude hues. The stiletto mule can be styled for both casual and dressy moments, worn from brunch to dinner and everything in between.

The Ugly Shoe Phenomenon

Ugly_shoe_phenomenon_alexander_mcqueen

The ugly shoe phenomenon has been around for a while but this season it is getting truly serious, even Crocs have hit the catwalk. Reactions were mixed when the models appeared in those resin-moulded clogs on the runway at Christopher Kane, who told Vogue about this partnership the following: “I always work with unexpected items and combinations, transforming the everyday into desirable luxury. I wanted to bring my own stamp and DNA to Crocs’ classic clog shoe and achieve something really special. The marble print feels very earthy and I often think of Crocs in a very grounded way, worn with either an evening dress or with jeans, and adding the rock crystals brings a bit of luxury to this everyday style. Crocs are arguably the most comfortable shoe, I love that they are slightly awkward and might be perceived by some as ‘ugly’. They have a very naïve and childlike shape which I especially like when they look extra clunky on the foot.

Also Alexander McQueen is jumping on the orthotic shoe trend along with no other than Balmain, who would have ever thought that?! What do you think of that trend? Yay or nay?

Blame it on the Birkenstock, but the must-have of the season is bringing ugly shoes out into the light of day. Complete with orthopedic-style soles, pool slide straps and ultra-utilitarian fastenings like Velcro, they may not be for everyone, at least they are comfy and make your orthopedist happy!

Here’s a trend that has been taking flight for some time now: butterflies! Embroidered onto outerwear at  Valentino and stitched on a Gucci sweater, the butterfly is about everywhere this fall.

Wishlist Wednesday: Blue

Blue

Dive into blue! Just in time for spring, many designers looked to the water and sky for inspiration. Especially royal blue with its refined elegance translates easy into the new season. I am in love with jumpsuits that are absolutely trending at the moment. Head to toe in this sophisticated shade is truly an eye-catcher.

Add a pop of color and excitement to your evening looks with those fun clutch bags. Fall’s juiciest arm candies are bright and ladylike. Either you go for Anya Hindmarch‘s bold graphics of household brands (1 and 4) or choose Charlotte Olympia‘s playful peach clutch (2) that is covered in suede perfectly mimicking the fuzzy texture of the fruit. I personally adore REDValentino‘s combination of fairy tales and fashion (6). All interiors offer enough space for your party essentials.

Polka Dot It

Polka Dot It Trend SS2014 Cover

Feminine, sophisticated and reminiscent of 1950s elegance, for the new season polka dots returned to the S/S 2014 runway. At Burberry Prorsum they came in a modernized and bold way, while at Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino they appeared smaller in black and white or red – all aptly retro-inspired, especially given Moschino’s special anniversary show.
