My Fashion’s Night Out in London

CIMG7237

Yesterday, I flew to London to celebrate the city’s biggest shopping spectacle: Fashion’s Night Out. Being a fashion addict, I felt like having arrived in heaven. The streets were filled with stylish people for whom fashion still has a thrill, an inspiring mood was in the air. The events were numerous, from Giorgio Armani’s cocktail party, Manolo Blahnik unveiling the World of Manolo pop-up store at Liberty to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s DJ performance at the Juicy Couture store. Everywhere was something exciting to see or even to win.

The evening served also a good cause. Vogue launched a limited edition T-shirt for the night designed by Sanna Annukka of which all profits go to charity Kids Company.

There was so much to do it had been hard to decide where to start. Superstar appearances were guaranteed at the parties that required an invitation like the ones at Stella McCartney or Matthew Williamson. I was lucky to be there and had the best time ever. The photos I took speak for themselves. Enjoy my very own exciting moments of last night.

LoL, Sandra

Lanvin for H&M

Ladies, mark your calendars. On November 23rd fashionistas around the globe will line up in front of H&M shops to participate in one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year: Lanvin’s exclusive collection for H&M that will include womenswear as well as menswear.

It will definitely be a very interesting collabration given Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz’s quote: “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.”

Above you can see some stunning pieces of Lanvin’s F/W 2010 collection as well as in my last post about the gorgeous leopard print pieces.

I totally love the French house and cannot wait for those covetable pieces for H&M to be revealed in the beginning of November. Stay tuned as I will keep you posted immediately.

Mixed Berries

Yesterday, at the 62nd Emmy Awards 2010 in Los Angeles, celebrities went on a berry hunt. The most beautiful dresses were the ones in the must-have berry shades of the season.
Those tones will remain for Resort 2011. Enjoy the sneak preview as most of the gowns have already been from the upcoming collections.

The US-series Mad Men won again in the category top drama. I would give the award fashionwise in the category “top drama gown” to their supporting actress Christina Hendricks in her lilac Zac Posen Resort 2011 dress that flaunted her curves perfectly and looked so stunning in combination with her flame-red hair.

On the F/W 2010 runways, berry tones were seen everywhere as if the designers have had all mixed berries for desert while creating their collections. The bright shades were combined in all ways.

I put some outfits together to show you how those hues combined together can make a strong statement and instantly update your wardrobe.

Red with violet, fuchsia with ruby, vermillion with plum- everything is possible, just let your imagination run free.

This winter, the LBD (Little Black Dress) is taken hostage by the LRD (Little Red Dress). So chances are very high that you might get scarlet fever soon. The bright vibrant tone is very contagious especially when worn tone on tone. Accessorize it with matching pumps and a bag in the same colour family for head-to-toe chic.

I am totally in love with Bottega Veneta‘s tone on tone looks. How about you?
Have I whet your appetite for mixed berries?

Breaking Nail Polish News

Les Khakis de Chanel

Last year at the first Fashion’s Night Out, the launch of Chanel’s mint green nail polish “Jade” went done in nail polish history. Peter Philips, global creative director of Chanel make-up, started a hype that has not come to an end yet. Fashionistas all over the world have craved for the limited vernis colours since then.

This fall at the second Fashion’s Night Out hosted by Vogue , that will take place in 16 cities around the globe (like New York, Paris, London, Berlin and Tokyo) it won`t be any different.
The world’s biggest shopping event stands for a fab night with late store opening hours, fashion shows, pop-ups and exclusive offers.

Chanel will launch the very limited Les Khakis de Chanel, a collection of 3 Le Vernis Nail Colours that can be worn alone or combined for a camouflage effect. With the ongoing military trend, the shades in so-called Khaki Rose, Khaki Brun and Khaki Vert are a must!

Get ready for Sept 9th (like Berlin) or Sept 10th (like New York )! Book your flights, call your girlfriends in one of those 16 metropoles and  pray for the grace of the Beauty Gods!
Nothing else will help…

I will be on the field in London that night!

Meet Lydia Courteille

Lydia Courteille

Yesterday I had the priviledge to meet the Parisian jewelry designer Lydia Courteille.

Lydia Courteille with me to the leftLydia Courteille with me

An amazing woman with a special aura that designs outstanding jewels. The scale of her creations is absolutely incredible. Mostly big pieces inspired by historical periods show her fantastical imagination. She uses a lot of ancient stones that the passionate antiquarian has collected over the years. A certified gemologist, Lydia Courteille uses her expert knowledge to design jewelry that is vibrant, colourful and unexpected.

Each collection has its story. There  are “The 9 Planets” : for example the “Cabinet of Curiosities”, “African”, “My Secret Garden”, just to name a few.

She explained to me her love for skulls as a symbol of vanity showing that in the end everybody is equal no matter how rich, beautiful or intelligent the person was. To her it recalls the humility of life. For the rest of her collections, she is pursuing her love of floral or forest landscapes, following her take on gothic elements or using animals like frogs, snakes or elephants for the beauty of their forms. Just looking at her creations you feel her fairytale spirit.
