Lily Collins is the face of Lancôme‘s Spring 2014 makeup collection FRENCH BALLERINE. Looking at her gorgeous brows, her beautiful complexion and her striking resemblance to Audrey Hepburn, it was only a matter of time before the actress and daughter of Phil Collins landed a beauty contract. And it couldn’t be a better fit as Lily’s grandmother, Jane Hale, was dancing en pointe professionally in the forties.

Her first campaign was lensed by Mario Testino. Lancôme‘s FRENCH BALLERINE features the most romantic products inspired by the pink satin ribbons sewn onto toe shoes. For every woman who ever dreamed of wearing a tutu.

If you have a weekend in Bangkok, squeeze in a day trip to Chatuchak Weekend Market and you will not be disappointed. This must-visit is one of the world’s largest weekend markets with over 15,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand. Everything is on sale here, shop ‘till you drop’, although not all at the best bargain rates.

The best way to get there is to hop on the Skytrain (BTS) to Mo Chit station, and follow the crowd until you see rows of canvas stalls selling clothes and other items. Almost everything can be found here, and most vendors actually come from local factories, like antique wood carving, clay handicrafts, wooden funitures, hand made decorated flowers, and much more.

My look: Tulle floral skirt and jacket (you need one for the Skytrain, the air conditioner feels like being in a freezer), both by Jean Paul Gaultier Femme, tank top
by American Vintage, Vela nylon backpack
(great piece to carry your personal belongings while travelling) by Prada, sunglasses by Marc Jacobs, studded bracelet by H&M and golden sandals by Zara.

MULBERRY has released its S/S 2014 ad campaign starring once more Brit model Cara Delevingne. One word that describes it all: Adorable! Celebrating tea time, the It-girl and her little animals friends were shot by no other than Tim Walker.
Enjoy some exclusive behind the scenes photos from that fantastical afternoon party, starring ponies, cockatoos, pelicans and puppies of all sizes, the new season must-have bags such as the fiery red striped BAYSWATER or the new KENSAL in cream, along with a beautiful Cara who seemed to have a grand time on set.

L`Eau Couture is the olfactory continuation of the designer’s Prêt-â-Porter S/S 2014 collection, in which ethereal fabrics as light as petals chisel a magical fusion between woman and nature. It captures the ecstasy of nature blossoming in an urban springtime setting.
For L`Eau Couture, Francis Kurkdjian dreamed up a brand new tribute to freshness, which he leads into sensuality characterised by absolute sophistication. L`Eau Couture reinterprets accords in a way never seen before. “The idea to create a Couture Eau is quite uncommon in this register. It s a sophisticated, sensual freshness, far removed from the conventions found in fragrances usually created in this repertoire” – Francis Kurkdjian.

FLORAL
Top notes: Bergamot, magnolia and citrusy notes
Middle notes: Orange blossom
Base notes: Vanilla and green almond
Dressed in an elegant water-green box, the delicately facetted bottle reveals a crystalline green juice. L’Eau Couture lets us discover freshness like a promise of new emotions. It invites us to dive into unknown sensations born of the lightness associated with the newness of spring.

L’Eau Couture is the perfect addition to the Elie Saab fragrance family and will be available from February 1, 2014 (Swiss launch date) as EdT Vaporisateur 30ml (CHF 63.00), 50ml (CHF 94.00) and 90ml (CHF 132.00). I am already a huge fan!

I spent New Year’s Eve at Ku Dé Ta, Bangkok‘s recently opened new 2-story hot spot on the 39th and 40th floor of Sathorn Square Building. First, I enjoyed an eight course meal at the beautiful Signature restaurant followed by some dancing at the night club on the same level. Being already known in the Asian club scene because of its sister venue in Singapore, this entertainment playground is an awesome place you don’t want to miss while being in Thailand!
My look: Studded leather shift dress and leather bra top, both by Saint Laurent, wild flower gunmetal-tone Swarovski crystal ear cuffs
by Roberto Cavalli, strappy sandals by Gucci, camouflage fold over clutch by Valentino, rose diamond ring and Limelight Gala watch, both by Piaget.
Again Happy New Year 2014 and thanks for following Sandra’s Closet!

As you already know, this year I am off to pastures new. I am so much looking forward to my new challenge as Editor-in-Chief of L’OFFICIEL SWITZERLAND, and to keeping Sandra’s Closet filled with interesting posts on a daily base.
Starting something new means mostly to leave something else behind. Therefore, you can read now in the recent SI Style magazine my last column that I dedicated to my job and the passion I still feel for it every day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sabina Hanselmann-Diethelm, Editor-in-Chief of SI Style magazine, and her team for this wonderful collaboration during the last three years. It was a true pleasure working with these amazing people and I hope that my team at L’OFFICIEL SWITZERLAND will be able to say this about me as well one day. The first edition will be at the newspaper kiosk on March 7, 2014.
Mark your calendar!

Happy New Year from Bangkok where I am at the moment. I hope that you started 2014 in a very fun way. Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one!
On the first day of the year, I am exploring the Thai city a little more with all its shrines and spirit houses. Something that you can see here on every corner. It is a truly amazing place to visit.
My look: Zebra print top by Saint Laurent, grey mid-rise skinny leg distressed jean by J Brand, studded leather loafers
by Miu Miu, Donna hobo bag in vine green by Alexander Wang and floral sunglasses by Dolce & Gabbana.

The Erawan Shrine (officially named Thao Maha Brahma) in Bangkok is not old, but it is an interesting testament of the role of religion in modern Thai society. In 1955, the founder of the Erawan hotel was told by an astrologist, that the time for laying the foundation stone was not really right. It could only be corrected by building a shrine in the area. Following this advice, the Thao Maha Brahma was enshrined one year later.
The Erawan Shrine is located on the northwest corner of the Grand Hyatt Erawan property, near the Chit Lom stop on the skytrain. It consists of a golden statue, the Thao Mana Brahma, that sits beneath a glittering canopy, surrounded by offerings of flowers, incese and candles. The area is crowded with worshippers day and night and always wafting with incense smoke. A very magical place to visit and a great spot to wish for a Happy New Year.
Enjoy some of my impressions and of course stay tuned for more…

The title might sound a little pathetic looking at all the fur clothes that Miuccia Prada presented for her S/S 2014 collection. But even if you don’t like fur, you will have to admit that those designs are pieces of art. Colourful and vibrant, the craftsmanship that is needed to create those intarsia details is outstanding. Miuccia Prada uses the fur like a canvas and as most clothes cost as much as a masterpiece, why not combine the two? “Art” has been a major inspiration for many designers for the S/S 2014 season.
Personally speaking, I love the facial prints seen on the handbags the most. Cannot wait to get my hands on those…

Somebody else who couldn’t wait for those pieces to hit the shelves was no other than Marc Jacobs. He walked his dog on Christmas Day in Saint Barts wearing already one of the Prada S/S 2014 fur coats. He is a great admirer and friend of Miuccia Prada and I spotted him frequently at her Miu Miu shows in the afternoon after he had shown Louis Vuitton in the morning.
Let’s see which one of the must-have pieces Anna Wintour and Anna Dello Russo will pick. Nevertheless, Marc was first!
