Heart Me Sunglasses

Heart-shaped sunglasses are a must this summer! The most Instagrammable ones of the season will be probably Saint Laurent’s LouLous that combine a cheeky Lolita-style heart-shape with retro cat-eyes. I am in love and you?

My Look: Upgrade Your Chic

Upgrade your chic can be so easy, just add the right accessory and a black simple dress transforms into something even more glamourous. Here I added a multi-strand pearl body chain necklace to a classic gown that you had seen me wearing before (for the previous post click here please) for an unexpected touch.

I sported this look to a MONTBLANC event that was held under the red-lit dome of the iconic Rainbow Room inside Rockefeller Center. I had a great time while looking out at the spectacular views of New York – a city that is said to have been built on a pioneering spirit, just like MONTBLANC was over 110 years ago. The lavish party saw brand ambassador Hugh Jackman and other famous celebrities making an appearance. Enjoy my photos of the night.

Kilian Hennessy: Paris

KILIAN HENNESSY inherited a taste for creation from his family’s generations-old cognac business. His namesake perfume collection BY KILIAN epitomizes both luxury and modernity, using some of the world’s finest raw materials and rare essential oils. The elegant bottles and boxes are all refillable and reusable. His newest launches «Body Pleasures» include shower gels, body lotions as well as scented hair and body oils. I met with the irrevocably French fragrance-maker who gave me some amazing tips for his favorite place on earth.

Your favourite city?
PARIS – It is the most beautiful city for me, full of culture. It inspires me, helps me to create. I was born there and then raised from 1-7 in Cognac. At the age of 7, I returned to Paris. As of now, I haven’t found a better city.

Your favourite hotel?
LE BRISTOL – It is the perfect hotel for a romantic weekend with exceptional service.
112 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris, Phone: +33 1 53 43 43 00

Your favourite restaurant?
CAVIAR KASPIA – It is owned by a couple which are good friends of us. The food is absolutely excellent and it has a fun vibe. We are always there for Russian New Year’s – the most exciting place to be! The waiters are dancing on the table, they even get naked. We always have a blast.
17 Place de la Madeleine, 75008 Paris, Phone: +33 1 42 65 33 32

Your favourite dish there?
POTATO CAVIAR – It is a baked potato with a huge amount of caviar on top.

Your favourite bar?
MATHIS BAR –  The most elegant and handsome bar in Paris.
3 Rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, Phone: +33 1 42 25 73 01

Your favourite nightclub?
CLUB RASPOUTINE – The only club in Paris for people my age. They play house music, kind of hardcore, but a lot of fun.
58 Rue de Bassano, 75008 Paris, Phone: +33 1 47 20 02 90

Your favourite sightseeing spot?
LA VICTOIRE DE SAMOTHRACE at the LOUVRE. I cannot go to the Louvre without stopping by to see her. It is a sculpture that was at the bow of a ship which you can still see in the exhibition. The woman has wings with a veil that is covering her naked body. Looking at her, you imagine the wind that is pulling the fabric to show of parts of her body. It is very sensual, you can feel so much strength. If I don’t have any more elan, I go see her.
Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris

Your favourite park?
I don’t do parks.

Your favourite shop?
MR PORTER – Even that there are still a few brands missing. I love that it is shopping with no hazzle. Just trying at home and if it doesn’t fit, they pick it up. So easy.

Your must-have accessory?
It would be MY SCENT. Otherwise I just got this amazing BLACK SUEDE TOTE BAG by SAINT LAURENT that I cannot live without anymore.

The best soundtrack for this destination?
IL VENAIT D’AVOIR 18 ANS by DALIDA – I cannot live without. It’s part of my culture, such a gorgeous song.

The scent of Paris?
ECCENTRIC – All excesses blend well in Paris. Here women have a posture to look beautiful in a «negligée way». The message they convey is «I kind of work on it but I didn’t do anything». This is FRENCH CHIC. So the scent would be a gorgeous tuberose, jasmine like VOULEZ-VOUZ COUCHER AVEC MOIicon. For example in the States where women tend to be more made up, the scents are more subtle.

The Best Way to Fight Discoloration

This is literally the caviar among skin care, the ultimate luxury for your facial care.
LA PRAIRIE’s White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire is a lavish cream infused with a potent brightening serum to fight the appearance of discolouration and age spots. Drawing its unrivalled power from a new, breakthrough molecule, this luxurious formula goes beyond mere brightening to unlock the power of light. It diffuses shadows and leaves the skin looking immaculate with extraordinary luminosity.

Following years of research that included screening 50,000 active ingredients to find the single most powerful brightening ingredient, the molecule Lumidose was identified by the scientists at LA PRAIRIE as the most effective in supporting the inhibition of melanin production.

White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire works at the speed of light. The formula’s optimized concentration of active ingredients helps it to reach the source of discolouration, providing an extraordinary brightening effect.

Effects include a marked reduction in the visibility and intensity of age spots; improvement in the appearance of dull, discoloured skin; an evened complexion; and the firming and refinement of the skin’s texture. Skin feels smoother, and its elasticity and moisture levels are improved.

White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire provides measurable results in 2 weeks, visible results in 4 weeks, and extraordinary results in 8 weeks.

I have been using it for around four weeks now and was amazed that last weekend a dear friend commented on the disappearance of my pigments that were caused the combination of sun and the anti-baby pill. Looking closer at night in the mirror, I realized that they were absolutely gone. WOW!

In stores now for CHF 788.00 (60ml).

Virgil Abloh to Lead Men’s Design at Vuitton

LVMH has appointed Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, who came to prominence as Kanye West’s creative director, to lead men’s design at Louis Vuitton. His first show for one of the oldest and most powerful European houses in the luxury business will take place in June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.

The appointment, widely rumoured in recent months, follows the departure of Kim Jones, Abloh’s predecessor at Louis Vuitton, in January. Last week, it was announced that Jones would become the men’s designer at LVMH-owned Christian Dior, replacing Kris van Assche.

Kim Jones, Abloh’s predecessor at Louis Vuitton is now at LVMH-owned Christian Dior.

Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today. His sensibility towards luxury and savoir-faire will be instrumental in taking Louis Vuitton’s menswear into the future,” said Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman & CEO.

Virgil Abloh with Naomi Campbell at his Off-White™ S/S 2018 show.

It is an honor for me to accept the position of Men’s Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton. I find the heritage and creative integrity of the House are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times,” stated Virgil Abloh.

Who is Virgil Abloh?

Born in Rockford, Illinois in 1980, Virgil Abloh is an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, and designer. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison, he completed a Master´s Degree in Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in a curriculum founded by Mies van der Rohe. It was here that he learned not only about modernist design principles but also about the concept of multi-disciplinary working.

Virgil Abloh’s brand Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™ was started in 2012 as an artwork titled “PYREX VISION.” In 2013, the brand premiered a seasonal men’s and women’s fashion label showing runway collections during Paris Fashion Week since 2015. Abloh has also presented his work at major design institutions around the globe by the likes of Harvard Graduate School of Design, Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and the Rhode Island School of Design.

In 2019 he will have a major exhibition of past and current work at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, Illinois. In 2015, Virgil Abloh for Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™ is among the finalists of the LVMH Prize. He has been awarded various prizes, most recently winning the British Fashion Awards Urban Luxe award and International Designer of the Year at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2017.

Body Positive

When the whole ’90s-revival thing picked up steam most recently, I didn’t think twice about whipping out my overalls, and buying some body-hugging bodies. By the way, I am not talking about other human beings, I am talking about those tops that snap together at the crotch that were hugely popular in the ’90s and that made you look more like a Soviet gymnast than a fashionista at that time. This S/S 2018 season, I’ll admit that the return of this trend can look really amazing as the designers have come up with some fabulous pieces.

Anyway, brace yourself for a fashionable trip down the memory lane. You will love it, I promise!

Purple Power

Ultra violet may be the Pantone Color of the Year 2018, but this S/S 2018 season is all about lilac. The fresh pastel shade was all over the runways shows, starting at Victoria Beckham to Tibi to Roland Mouret. Needless to say that other purple shades were also featured, but the light version is the hue that won everyone over.

It looks so beautiful on dresses and I like wearing it head-to-toe.

Egyptian Magic

Egyptian Magic probably has garnered more kudos in the fashion press than any comparable product in the world. From Japan to Australia to Europe and the US, top celebrities in the film and fashion industries agree that Egyptian Magic is a «must-have» beauty and skin care product. They use it on face, skin, hair, cuts, burns, bruises, rashes – everywhere!

«Life takes from the taker & gives to the giver.
Above all, let your word be your bond.
»

Ancient Kamitian (Egyptian) folklore recalls the existence of a miraculous skin cream secretly used by the great sages, mystics, magicians and healers to maintain radiant, healthy, smooth and glowing skin. Egyptian Magic All-Purpose Skin Cream claims it has the exact formula than this miraculous cream found in ancient Egyptian tombs.

It is a phenomenal healing balm with legendary powers due to its unique mixture of all natural ingredients derived only from living plants and organisms. Being on the market since August 1991 with a solid track record, a loyal word of mouth following, and twice the healing power for half the price of conventional skin creams, it contains no additives, added preservatives, parabens or GMO ingredients and is made with Olive Oil, Bees Wax, Honey, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, Bee Propolis & Divine Love.

I had been curious about this magic cream that is loved by celebrities around the globe since quite some time and was looking forward to trying it. At first, it looks like Vaseline. But upon contact, this cream is much softer, a lot oilier and melts easily when rubbed into the skin. You don’t need a lot of product and it easily absorbs. The only thing that I am not used to yet is the smell. It’s not unpleasant, please don’t get me wrong, it’s just not a scent you’ll fall in love at first sniff.

I was truly impressed by its multi-purpose approach for the whole family (you can even use it for babies). The cream  hydrates and repairs skin from head to toe. I love to apply it on my cracked heels and elbows. Moreover, you can use it as a moisturizer, lip balm, eye cream or even hair mask as well as a makeup remover. Imagine that you are traveling, you just have one product for all! It also works wonders on eczema and skin irritations and helps fading scars. In addition gynecologists recommend Egyptian Magic even to be used on your private parts.

In Switzerland, Egyptian Magic is exclusively sold at Import Parfümerie.
CHF 36.00 (59ml) and CHF 54.00 (118ml)
