Fashion Against Aids

Fashion Against Aids

Next week on May 20th, H&M launches its third Fashion against Aids campaign, which includes the first festival collection, with 25% of the sales donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects. The ads star Lou Dillon and Elizabeth Jagger.

At the preview in the showroom, I had a look at the bohemian clothes and accessories, that even include tents and sleeping bags to express the festival feeling, and was sold immediately on them. It is an amazing collection with ethnic touches and the right amount of glamour, perfect for partying.

My favourite denim dress!
I love this very soft denim dress!

Shopping and helping to raise funds to promote the message of safe sex in one – a great cause worth supporting. See you there!

Have a look at Prada`s new Print Collection, a limited-edition line that will be in stores mid-May. The vintage-inspired dresses, an ode to the fifties, will be available in cotton and silk materials with selected prints from the Prada`s archives starting at €490.-. Also very charming are the colourful chain strap bags (€790.-) and the bow embellished ballet flats.

What a lovely way to welcome spring…

What a doll!

Anemone

Here she comes, the last one out of three: The Anemone Barbie® by Christian Louboutin. The most glamourous of the trio is completing this limited edition collector`s set with a visit to the Cannes Film Festival. In a statement-making gown and of course some stunning heels by the famous shoe maestro, there is no doubt you will be falling head over heels for this red carpet diva. Available from today at net-à-porter.

The iconic bag has been reworked in plex with silkscreened birds and comes in five different colours. As transparency is a big trend this season, this would be a great piece to own.

Christie’s Green Auction

GreenAuction

On April 22nd, 2010 Christie`s will be honouring the 40th annual celebration of Earth Day to raise awareness and funds for our planet with their inaugural Green Auction. In case you are thinking this will only be a bash for Birkenstock-lovers, you are completely mistaken. In the 21th century, the green movement can go well together with the luxury lifestyle. The fashion industry has united with the art, philantrophy, finance and celebrity worlds to make “A Bid to Save the Earth”. The auction boasts several unique “once-in-a-lifetime” fashion-themed lots including for example a custom-made scent by Nina Ricci or jewellery by Harry Winston.
Please find below my very own favourites:

Green_Auction_David_laChapelle

The Rape of Africa”, that will be auctioned off, is the first official art piece by David LaChapelle not shot for a magazine. The famous fashion photographer got his inspiration from Botticelli`s Venus and Mars painting. In his work, Naomi Campbell is the African Venus showing many of the horrors endured by the Africans including diamond mining.
I am a big fan of LaChapelle`s work in general. What seems truly interesting to me is that he is obviously attacking his colleague Damien Hirst. Hirst`s famous diamond skull is laying at the feet of the child to the right and is definitely reduced a symbol of cruelty. The catalogue has been published by the Alex Daniels-Reflex Gallery.

Green_Auction_Vea_Wang

You can buy a lunch with Vera Wang at the famous Mercer Kitchen restaurant in NYC and get a $10.000 credit to her flagship store. Might be a good idea for bridal shoppers.

Green_Auction_Stella_mcCartney

If you get the following lot, your first fitting for “His and Hers” bespoke suits made of sustainable fabric will be by the queen of ecological chic herself: Stella McCartney.

Green_Auction_gucci

I love the “Forever Now” package including a vintage 1960`s Bamboo Bag from Gucci`s archive in Florence, and a New Bamboo bag designed and customized by Creative Director Frida Giannini exclusively for the Christie`s Green Auction, in addition to two tickets to the women`s runway show in Milan, and backstage access to meet the designer herself.

Green_Auction_Armani

Last but not least, Giorgio Armani is giving a glamorous evening outfit to accompany the “Los Angeles Oscars experience”, complete with tickets to the Vanity-Fair-After-Party.

To me, the Green movement is a wonderful idea. The silent auction starts on April 8th and goes until May 6th. Details on how to participate in the silent auction or how to donate, volunteer and act can be found at “A Bid to Save the Earth”. The live auction will be on April 22nd in New York at Christie`s Rockefeller Center.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Favourite Drink

Lagerfelds Favourite Drink

When Karl Lagerfeld lost almost 90 pounds in the beginning of the Nineties, rumors attributed the weight loss to his consumption of only Diet Coke and steamed vegetables. From April 24th, the Parisian trend department store Colette sells a limited edition of the famous drink especially designed by Karl Lagerfeld himself. He dressed the light aluminium bottle in white, black, pink and gave it a new slim silhouette. The bottle is €3.50 and the chic special box, accompagnied by a bottle-opener hidden in a drawer, is €60.-.

As I am totally addicted myself to this wonderful zero-calorie treat, I am completely in love with its new look. Diet Coke should keep it the Lagerfeld way. So much better!

Lady Dubai

CIMG4631

First of all, many greetings from Dubai where I am at the moment. Shopping here is absolutely amazing and I spotted something truly interesting that you might have not seen yet:
The exclusive Hublot watch “Lady Dubai” created for Dubai by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the largest retailer of Swiss brand timepieces in the Middle East. It is an absolutely limited edition. Only thirty of these unique watches have been produced and are only available in Dubai.

As you already know, I am not the biggest Hublot fan but this model here is another one that caught my attention. It is so fashionable. The shape is the typical Hublot Big Bang one with a white mother of pearl dial surrounded by a rainbow-coloured bezel set with semi-precious stones and a white crocodile strap.

Bänder

The best is to come: The watch is accompagnied by six different interchangeable straps matching the colours of the bezel. The one I saw was number 13 and is available at their Dubai Mall store for approximately CHF 60.000.-. They would ship to your home address if you are interested…

Fendi’s Peek-A-Boo

There has been a talk about the Fendi Peek-A-Boo bag since a few seasons, but all of a sudden it comes out of hiding and has reached the It-bag status. Created by Karl Lagerfeld and shown for the first time at the Fendi S/S 2009 runway, it has appeared in every Fendi show since then in different materials and colours. For the opening of their prestigious new shop in Las Vegas at the MGM Hotel, Fendi launched a limited Peek-A-Boo edition in 24 carats gold leaves (see picture above) for approximately $36.000. Spotted on many celebrities in various sizes, the shape of the bag is very Birkin-esque but with only one handle like the famous Kelly bag. It has a “kangaroo pouch” that can be draped open. The tote is very sophisticated but not looking to bourgeois like his Hermès forerunners plus the prices are far more attractive.

I am totally in love with them. Especially the unclasped look gives the bag a kind of sloughy cool appearance. My only problem is to decide which one I prefer as there are sooooo many beautiful versions out there. This summer my favourite model is the tapestry one but probably it is worth waiting with a view to the stunning yellow leopard version from the upcoming winter collection, see below.

For my Swiss based readers, Bongénie Grieder carries those bags.
Have you decided yet?

Fashion for Relief

Fashion for Relief

If you have ever thought about combining shopping and supporting a good cause, here is your chance: Net-à-porter.com and Naomi Campbell join forces to raise needed funds for mothers and babies in Haiti.

The supermodel`s project called Fashion for Relief is a charity fashion show where all of the garments from the runways will be sold later. Two phenomenal events took place in London and New York in February. Famous models like Eva Herzigova, Kate Moss, Erin O`Connor, just to name a few, presented super-chic clothes donated by designers like Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and many more (see some of the garments above).

From today on for only two weeks you can buy those single pieces that have been reduced in price as they may show signs of wear and tear in some cases (they were worn by the supermodels on the runway) at www.net-à-porter.com. All proceeds are going directly to The White Ribbon Alliance.

A wonderful excuse for excessive shopping. Get your hands on sensational designer pieces for less money while helping others in need. I think this is an awesome idea! Well done, Naomi!

News from Hublot

Depeche Mode & Hublot

Depeche Mode

Me with Depeche Mode`s lead singer Dave Gahan

Swiss watchmaker Hublot and one of my favourite bands, Depeche Mode, had teamed up to create 12 exclusive Big Bang timepieces featuring the group`s album artwork. Each watch came in a box comprising some additional Depeche Mode gadgets and was auctioned off.
Last weekend Hublot and Depeche Mode presented the proceeds of this incredible joint project: a cheque for over $620.000 to the Teenager Cancer Trust. Dave Gahan, the band`s lead singer, had committed himself with great enthusiasm to the event after having recovered from his own cancer surgery last May.

Hublot Pink

If you are sad that you missed those charity watches, have a look at one of the newest signature Hublot models: the Big Bang Rose Steel Tutti Frutti. Not for a good cause, but the 48 baguette-cut pink sapphires are definitely worth the attention. The exquisite rose-coloured dream is accentuated by a matching alligator bracelet and would be the perfect eyecatcher for your wrist this summer. I am not always the biggest Hublot fan but this version gets my vote.
