Radiant Orchid, the color of 2014, couldn’t have been a better source of inspiration for Tom Ford‘s newest scent VELVET ORCHID which comes in the iconic bottle in purple. The new feminine perfume creation could definitely be associated with the brand’s most popular vamp fragrance Black Orchid that was launched in 2006. The new version definitely carries on the legacy of a seductive and warm floral signature that promises a lot of attention.

Top notes: Honey, rum, mandarin orange and bergamot
Middle notes: Orange blossom, rose, orchid, black orchid, jasmine, heliotrope, narcissus, hyacinth and magnolia

Velvet Orchid is available as Eau de Parfum in Switzerland starting April 7, 2014 for CHF 132.00 (50ml) and CHF 200.00 (100ml).

PERSONAL TIP: I love to drink freshly brewed ginger tea every day, made by steeping fresh, grated ginger root in boiling water. It is a great way to detox and to prevent a cold during winter. Ginger brew is also a great remedy for stressful moments.

Drinking it on a regular basis may improve blood circulation which helps the delivery of vitamins, minerals and oxygen to your body’s cells. To your health!

The S/S 2014 It-Bag – The Backpack

Sometimes, I am proud of myself, especially if I spot immediately an object of desire for the next season. In this case it has been CHANEL‘s amazing to-die-for backpack for S/S 2014 (see previous post from last November 2013 here please) which Karl Lagerfeld has transformed into a backboard for creativity, turning it into an arty and luxury accessory.

Playing with conventions the famous designer has personalised the backpack and given it an authentic and worn appearance: graffiti, tags, splashes of paint and colours, added details like scoubidous, snap hooks and luggage tags.

Every motif was specially conceived and reproduced thanks to a specific printing procedure which allows for a wide variety of shades and several colour effects. “There’s a certain lightness and a certain kind of humour in all this,” Lagerfeld declared.

Sometimes, a press release can truly surprise. Recently Donna Karan sent me a basket full of Granny Smith apples along with a bottle of cider vinegar and the house’s newest beauty launch (matching my beautiful Sac de Jour in green by Saint Laurenticon perfectly).

Feminine, sophisticated and reminiscent of 1950s elegance, for the new season polka dots returned to the S/S 2014 runway. At Burberry Prorsum they came in a modernized and bold way, while at Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino they appeared smaller in black and white or red – all aptly retro-inspired, especially given Moschino’s special anniversary show.
