Les Essentiels de Chanel – Fall 2012 Makeup

MA2011_03_0038Les Essentiels de Chanel

Let me introduce you to Chanel‘s new Fall 2012 makeup collection, LES ESSENTIELS DE CHANEL, created by Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup. The collection was inspired by Coco Chanel’s signature style, “her essentials”: The little black dress, the quilted handbag and the two-toned shoe. Personally speaking, it is a very wearable makeup collection with classic pink hues and natural beiges to soften the face and lips while modern grey-black or sophisticated light taupe dress the nails.

In stores in Switzerland end of August 2012.
For the preview and nail colour swatches, please scroll down:

Designed to extend a summer glow, this limited-edition duo of lighter and darker beige shades—enchantingly rendered to resemble sequins—blends together harmoniously for a subtly iridescent complexion.

My tip: If you have got one of Chanel’s limited edition highlighters from previous collections, you won’t need that one. The design looks beautiful, but the effect is pretty much the same compared to the preceding shimmering powders.

Bold colour combines with the smoothest, silkiest gel texture for luxurious wear and deeply dramatic effect. Lips feel comfortable—never sticky or tacky—and look luminous, full and sensuous for hours.

The double-sided, flocked applicator is beveled to deliver ultra-precise definition.

My tip: Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss comes in a new shade, so-called 68 Troublant, which looks stunning worn alone for the day. For a darker, more glamorous effect for night, I recommend adding the new lip definer Le Crayon Lèvres in 54 Amarante CHF 34.-.

Long-lasting, chip-resistant nail colour straight from the runways of Paris (for a previous post, please click here). State-of-the-art formula strengthens and moisturizes nails. Unique patented non-spill bottle with wiping action for easy application.

My tip: Those nail polishes are a must, get them all! If you have to choose one colour, I would recommend 559 Frenzy, the new light taupe shade, that is different, new and so sophisticated!

Chanel Polishes 3

Waterproof, smudge-proof eyeliner delivers long-lasting definition with a twist of the wrist: Colour winds up when you need it, winds down when you don’t. Gentle, soft, silicone-enriched formula delivers smooth, even lining. A built-in sharpener at the opposite end detaches for quick refreshes.

My tip: This is your perfect companion for the beach. Line and define the upper and lower eyelids based on eye shape and desired makeup result and it will stay on the whole day even after excessive swimming. I love 88 Noir Intense.

Chanel Bombay Express Makeup Collection

Each year, the CHANEL Métiers d’Art fashion show celebrates the exceptional talent of these Houses, pairing their know-how with a legendary destination.

PARIS – BOMBAY showcases a specific vision of India. Immense chandeliers and candelabras bathe an opulent banquet table in light. The scent of jasmine floats through the air. Surreal princesses from an idealised empire or authentic Parisian women combine the lavishness of the Maharajas and the timeless codes of the House of CHANEL. Refined jewelry pieces clip back sumptuous hairstyles and black-shadowed eyes take on a catlike appearance.

Indian beauties know how to enhance their noble almond-shaped eyes, which they accentuate with kohl and dark eyeshadows. Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, intensifies the proportions of this iconic makeup to give it a universal character.Eyes succumb to the boldness and mystery of a black eyeshadow in all its nuances with ILLUSION D’OMBRE Mirifique. Graphic makeup with saturated colour blocks stretches out from the corner of the eye to express strength and femininity. The rest of the face focuses on gold and light.

The exclusive creation of the collection is a precious, evanescent golden powder to dab onto cheekbones and eyelids in scintillating touches. In its classic black-lacquered case, ROUTE DES INDES DE CHANEL recreates an embossed motif of a rare fabric, a piece of bronze brocade from an Indian-influenced collection created by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1960s. A stroke of blush structures the face and warms the translucent complexion with the hint of an elegant and sunny earth tone. Lips remain natural, enhanced by the luster of luminous beige shimmering with gold.

On nails, an original nail polish mixing pale gold and silver recalls the traditional festival of lights, for which it was named: Diwali.

All products will be available in July.

Expressions de Chanel – Eye Makeup 2012

An unforgettable face is often due to the eyes: playful, indiscreet, warm or seductive. In 2012, eyes by CHANEL take control. A multi-dimensional mascara, a high-precision eyeliner and eyeshadows that sweep warm and cool tones over the eyes…

Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, creates three mini collections dedicated to the eyes, in three colour expressions – coral, purple and brown.

Volume, length, curl. Why choose?

INIMITABLE INTENSE is designed for women who want it all, without compromise.

A sophisticated 3D effect is ensured by perfect harmony between the formula and brush:

– An enveloping and coating formula thanks to the patented blend of a vinyl copolymer and wax for an even result that enhances lashes over their entire length.
– A high-tech patented brush in soft and flexible white elastomer for even and optimal application on each lash, from root to tip.

Lashes are instantly stretched, curled and perfectly separated. A deep, intense gaze that fully unleashes its seductive power.

The iconic LES 4 OMBRES eyeshadow quartets and ILLUSION D’OMBRE eyeshadows stay in tune with three collectable interpretations that reveal eyes whatever the whim or mood…

LES 4 OMBRES enables to intensely adjust makeup with matte, satiny or scintillating effects.

ILLUSION D’OMBRE plays with metallic reflections for a halo of light or more accentuated and shimmering finishes.

Coral Expression: Illusion d’Ombre 88 Abstraction (new) and Les 4 Ombres 34 Éclosion
Purple Expression: Illusion d’Ombre 83 Illusoire and Les 4 Ombres 37 Variation (new)

Chanel Resort 2013 Makeup Look

k2012-13 Cruise_20

Today’s post is dedicated to the beautiful Chanel Resort 2013 makeup look “Versailles de Chanel”. (For photos of the runway show that took place one week ago at the Bosquet des Trois Fontaines at the Château de Versailles, please click here.)

2012-13 Cruise_13

Generally speaking, pink eyes are not easy to pull off. Well, unless you are Peter Philips, Creative Director for Chanel Makeup. He makes pink eyes covetable as an everyday look with less mascara and an all over pink eyeshadow.

2012-13 Cruise_02

In a little interview, he gave further details on the look: “The makeup is inspired by the theme of the collection: Versailles. It’s a ‘pink’ makeup, between “girly” and “rebel”. I used Ombre Essentielle-Rose Favorite” on the eyelids and “Joues Contraste – Rose Pétale” as a blusher.

Beige Khol liner ‘Clair’ in the eyes and I slightly enhanced the eyebrows. I kept the skin natural, to avoid the makeup from looking historical. Soft, pinkish lips I achieved by applying “Rouge Coco Shine – Evasion” and I topped the makeup off by placing a black velvet Chanel logo as a beauty spot on either the left or right side of the face (high on the cheekbones, under the eye). Last minute I added a subtle highlight with “Mouche de Beauté” a compact highlight powder.

The eyeshadow, highlight powder and velvet CC’s were created especially for this show.”

Backstage at Chanel F/W 2012: The Makeup

2012-13 FW RTW_01

For the first time, there was a credit that no one has seen at a runway show before: One of Chanel’s famous Parisian ateliers, the legendary couture embroidery house Lesage, lend their skills to Peter Philips, Creative Director for Chanel Makeup, by creating the most stunning embroidered eyebrow pads for the models.

Lesage (embroidery) is along with 7 other ateliers part of Chanel’s subsidary dedicated to “Métiers d’ art”, Paraffection. These include Montex (embroidery), Desrues (costume jewelry), Lemarié (feather-maker), Maison Michel (hat-maker), Massaro (boot-maker), Goossens (goldsmith) and Guillet (fabric flowers-maker).

2012-13 FW RTW_11

The emphasis of the runway makeup look is on the eyebrows by using those amazing Lesage pads which won’t be for sale unfortunately. The rest of the face is kept nude and simple.

2012-13 FW RTW_07

But there are two new products that will be available in the fall that will make our hearts leap with joy. “Ombre Contraste” is a compact powder in a lavender-taupe shade, called “Notorious” specially created for this show that Peter Philips used for all the shading and sculpting of the face.

2012-13 FW RTW_15

For the nails, the new It- shade will be “Frenzy”, a light taupe, which is totally colour coordinated with “Notorious”.

Ombres Matelassées and Chanel N°51

Let me introduce you the Ombres Matelassées, the new eye palette from Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, that offers a new interpretation of the iconic quilted effect so emblematic of Chanel.

Held in a black rectangular case, the five shades Pear, Pale Gold, Gold, Golden Khaki and Black Night are presented in a harmonious crisscross arrangement. Simply apply as desired to the eyelids, using the double-tipped foam applicators and brush.

Application tips:
– Use the foam applicator to apply the eyeshadows and the brush to gently blend them, for a makeup look that mixes different shades.
– The two darker shades can be used damp as an eyeliner. Simply apply with the tip of a foam applicator, along the base of the lashes.

Available in Switzerland at Chanel boutiques from the beginning of April for CHF 85.-.

In Paris, the Ombres Matelassées palette was pre-released at the re-opening of the Chanel boutique on 51, Avenue Montaigne last week.
This 600m2 boutique houses the unique world of Chanel and all of Karl Lagerfeld’s creations – Ready-to-Wear, handbags, shoes, jewellery and other accessories as well as fine jewellery and watches.

The two floors of the new space were inspired by the finesse of Mademoiselle Chanel’s private apartment at 31 Rue Cambon.

The conception of this new address was entrusted to New York architect Peter Marino, who is responsible for all of the Chanel boutiques across the globe.

Beauty Must: Las Vegas de Chanel

A city arises from the middle of nowhere in a feverish vision, like a mirage. Under the azure blue of a cloudless sky, Las Vegas keeps the desert dust at bay in the hypnotic ballet of neon lights. Along the Strip, the luxury hotels and casinos set the scene for a modern fairytale in which all dreams are possible. Amongst them stands the Bellagio Hotel. Its sumptuous gallery will welcome an entirely remodeled CHANEL boutique in end of this month.

Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, creates a gold-plated collection and strews stardust over polyester dreams.

The iconic gold of CHANEL elegance slips into every texture. A silky powder on the skin, sunny lacquer on the nails or a sheer whisper on the lips, it highlights a radiant face that’s on a lucky streak.

The Exclusive Creation of the collection concentrates the entire spirit of Las Vegas in its traditional square case. Lined up in rows, four shades of sand and bronze sweep through every variation of a fabulous desert in which gold embraces the sun and shines. On the surface of the colours, an embossed star design seems to extend a warmwelcome to the city of dreams. For an illuminating makeover, a beveled brush is ideal for choosing and blending shades, sweeping lightly over the cheekbones, face or eyelids.

CHF 85.-

The extremely melt-away texture and playful spirit of the most mischievous CHANEL lipstick get into the game with a total golden look. BRILLANT: faithful to the style of Coco Chanel, its sheer golden shade gives a fun twist to the traditional codes ofelegance.

CHF 46.-

Chanel Crayon LV

It accentuates the centre of the upper lip with a golden line. A makeup tip that adds a touch of light and emphasizes the fullness of a sparkling smile.

CHF 34.-

A semi-sheer golden lacquer glides over nails like a talisman for a Midas touch.

Chanel Illusion d’Ombres for F/W 2011

Chanel Illusion d'Ombreillusions3

The enchanted world of precious materials is brought to life at your finger tips. The caress of a feather, the texture of shagreen and the sparkling facets of cut stone inspire the imagination. Each creation and each jewellery set bears a hint of illusion and sensation that emerges from the shadows into the light. Inspired by the heritage and savoir faire of the artisanal craftsmanship of the House of Chanel, Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, introduces new textures and makeup effects for F/W 2011. Shimmery and seducing, with a smoky twist in tune with the upcoming season’s colour trends! Explore the magic world of Illusion d’Ombres”!  Available now in the US, in Switzerland in the beginning of August 2011.

Chanel Lips & Cheeks

Against a pure, translucent complexion, ROSE ÉCRIN spruces up cheekbones with a breeze of freshness and a tender healthy glow effect.

Two new colours of the iconic lipstick are introduced for fall.
PLUMETIS: an innocent peach tone, ÉTOLE: luminous copper y rosewood that matches the lip pencil.

Used on its own or layered over ROUGE COCO lipstick to harmonise, the sparkling CHANEL gloss pairs its extreme shine with the shimmering glimmers on nails and eyelids.
PAMPILLE: a peach with silver reflections, BRAISE: a pink bronze.

A precise line emphasises the lip contour f or a perfectly traced smile. The two shades play with the elegance of orange tones in a fresh spirit with CORALLINE or an opulent style with ROSE CUIVRE.

W 2011 Eyes

For F/W 2011, the eyes play the starring role. At the heart of the “Illusion d’Ombres” collection, a new CHANEL eyeshadow interprets the richness of this world of precious materials and intangible colours. Its long-lasting, ultra-light and silky cream texture with a powdery appearance becomes one with the skin. Thanks to its translucent silicone-based formula, Illusion d’Ombre brings out the authenticity of pure pigments and thereby accentuates the intensity of colours and their iridescent reflections.

“Illusion d’Ombre is a new and exciting product, that’s easy to apply. I would suggest finger application. The texture is unique and has a very pleasant touch.” – Peter Philips

The eyeshadows come in six shades:
FANTASME: an iridescent white, MIRIFIQUE: every nuance of black, ÉMERVEILLÉ: a tender peach, ÉBLOUI: a brown smouldering with red, ILLUSOIRE: a grey-tinged taupe, ÉPATANT: a grey-shadowed khaki.

PRÉLUDE offers a base of essential, chic and classic tones. The four understated shadows in timeless colours – grey brown, grey beige, luminous beige and deep taupe brown, provide a matte or satiny makeup result.

A stroke of KHAKI PLATINE eye pencil with metallic glimmers captures the light for an eye-opening effect. Like a magical line on the inner eyelid rim or along the lash, it heightens intensity and increases the sense of mystery.

W 2011 Nails

Like the eyeshadows, LE VERNIS is inspired by effects of materials to adorn nails in shades with metallic and shimmering reflections. It wouldn’t be Chanel, if they didn’t come up with another It-colour for the nails. For F/W 2011, it will be limited edition Péridot that will be gettting all the buzz.

PÉRIDOT: gold and green intertwine and immerse themselves in the glow of a moiré effect, GRAPHITE: silver, gold and platinum, fuse in an unprecedented effect, QUARTZ: bronze becomes smitten with pink for a sophisticated result.
