Parisian Chic – Je Ne Regrette Rien

The famous ASW Winter Weekend in Gstaad is approaching fast and Friday’s dress code «Je ne regrette rien» might leave some with questions. Therefore I put together a little guide with lots of inspiration for you to get ahead of the fashion game. For those not coming, take this post as an idea for your next holiday festivities. You might outshine even the Christmas tree…

As many designers are looking into their archives for inspiration, time-traveling on our part is absolutely trending. From sixties retro to nineties nostalgia, the only mission is to stand out of the crowd. And there is truth in the fact that French women seem to always get it right! It is the widely adored allure of «je ne sais quoi» attitude. Their ability to assemble an outfit in the most put together way without looking too made up.

When it comes to partying, the capital of France has enthralled party planners and party goers for centuries. This December, ASW will bring the opulent glamour and intrigue of Paris nights to their members. Think of red plush, sparkling lights, think of the time when Edith Piaf first sang her iconic song «Je ne regrette rien» in 1960 or seek inspiration from the late 1970s through the 1990s, when «Les Bains Douches» was the nightclub to go in Paris. Imagine Jean-Paul Belmondo, Alain Delon, and Brigitte Bardot, dancing at «Chez Régine» or transform yourself into a burlesque dancer that could have popped out of the famous «Moulin Rouge» or «Crazy Horse» with feathers, sequins and showing off lots of skin. For the gentlemen the motto is to become the most handsome dandy or French lover. It is the allure that counts. Don’t forget a touch of sleaziness is always welcome during Parisian nights… here you can can…. here life is a cabaret.

At the Pascal Millet S/S 2013 Show

Rock the Cabah

I have been following Pascal Millet from his very first collection in his own name. When I met him in 2010 to discover his creations for S/S 2011 in the showroom, I was overwhelmed by his love for detail, his couture-like cuts and the very Parisian chic.

Yesterday, he turned over a new leaf with his first show during Paris Fashion Week. This season, he drew his inspiration in the narrow alleys of Tangier, its colours and textures. The fabrics were beautiful from stretch leather to fishnet cotton, from sequined Chantilly lace to linen whipcord. The colour palette showed all hues that you can find in Morocco, sand, spice, white, deep black and Tadelakt green.

Rock the Casbah!

Pascal Millet S/S 2011

Pascal Millet S:s 2011

Last week in Paris, I went to Pascal Millet’s showroom located beautifully near Notre-Dame with some stunning views of the Seine. His second collection in his own name for S/S 2011 is once more very couture, paying tribute to the Parisian chic. The designer was inspired by the work of Christopher Wool and Guy de Rougemont. The clothes were wonderfully displayed playing with fashion and art.

Structured pieces, of current elegance, of graphic poetry, in which the “Millet” touch is deeply imprinted. I love his rounded, fitted shoulders and the extraordinary hem details. The season’s ticket will be urban and sexy, announcing a sensual summer, colourful, with a delectable “gipsy” feel. For further information, please send an e-mail to .

An alluring encounter in the alleys of an Art Fair, see for yourself!
