Alberta Ferretti Steps Down as Creative Director

Italian designer Alberta Ferretti announced that she is stepping down as creative director of the eponymous brand she founded more than 40 years ago. The S/S 2025 collection that the brand presented last week during the Milan fashion week was the last one carrying her signature.

«On Sept. 17th, you attended my last fashion show,» Ferretti wrote in a letter sent out by email. «I believe that at this point of my career it is a right and conscious choice to pave the way for a new creative chapter for the brand I founded and which will continue to bear my name.»

The new creative director for the Alberta Ferretti brand will be announced in the next few months, the group said, adding that Ferretti will retain her role as vice president of Aeffe, which also owns brands Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Moschino and Pollini.

Together with her brother Massimo, Alberta Ferretti co-founded Aeffe S.p.A.

Ferretti, who grew up in her family’s dressmaking shop before opening her own boutique as a teenager, has remained true to her signature gentle feminine silhouettes since the launch of the brand in 1981.

«The Alberta of that day is in many ways still the Alberta of today, even if in the meantime a small family business has become a company with 1500 employees,» she wrote further.

Beautifully said. Thank you, Alberta, for the magic of all those years.

LoL, Sandra

Jeremy Scott Is Exiting Moschino

It is the end of an era! After 10 years, Jeremy Scott is leaving his role as creative director of Moschino. The Kansas City-native, 47, has been at the helm of the Italian luxury brand since 2013, carrying on the important legacy Franco Moschino left behind. Scott reignited the late designer’s tongue-in-cheek, humorous take on high fashion with his fantastical collections that I have been a huge fan of since decades!

Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino was F/W 2014 (click here, to see the outfit post).

His first collection was for F/W 2014. It launched a thousand debates on the role of fashion in the annals of art, consumerism, and social commentary. Scott has penned a fundamental chapter in the legacy of the brand with his fearless and show stopping pop-camp style and incisive humor – true to the renowned codes of the House.

With Massimo Ferretti last month at the Moschino F/W 2023 show.

«I am fortunate to have had the opportunity of working with the creative force that is Jeremy Scott,» said Massimo Ferretti, executive chairman of Moschino’s parent company Aeffe in the official statement. «I would like to thank him for his 10 years of commitment to Franco Moschino’s legacy house and for ushering in a distinct and joyful vision that will forever be a part of Moschino history

Jeremy Scott said: «These past 10 years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination. I am so proud of the legacy I am leaving behind. I would like to thank Massimo Ferretti for the honor of leading this iconic house. I would also like to thank all my fans around the world who celebrated me, my collections, and my vision for without you none of this would have been possible

I am really sad seeing Jeremy leave Moschino. I have been such a huge fan of his work and can only wish him the best. Thank you for all these dreams you have created for me.

LoL, Sandra

Behind the Scenes: Moschino F/W 2023 Show

This season, I flew to Milan Fashion Week to indulged in a 2-day extravaganza with MOSCHINO. I started with a shopping spree in their newly opened boutique located at Via della Spiga, 26, followed by the highlight of my trip. I attended the F/W 2023 show, followed by a backstage visit to meet Jeremy Scott and an intimate dinner with my MOSCHINO family.

Arriving at the venue with my MOSCHINO family.

With Massimo Ferretti, who is the executive chairman of parent company Aeffe SpA, that he founded in 1980 with his sister Alberta Ferretti. Aeffe SpA owns Moschino.

Ever wonder what it’s like before a runway show? Before the crowds, the music and glamour; what really happens when the guests arrive? I always say that there is already a fashion show happening outside. Streetstyle photographers try to capture the best outfits as well as the celebrities who are attending the défilé. While backstage the models get ready, I’ve always been intrigued by how designers cope with the stress of fashion shows. I mean it is the most important minutes of their entire season.

A fashion show backstage is packed with models, designers, managers, stylists, makeup artists, hairdressers, publicists, and other fashion elite who are there to ensure a fabulous show. Behind the scenes, there’s an army of people working frantically to make sure the fashion show goes off without a hitch. So you can imagine the relief when everything is over. Going backstage after a show is such a great experience.

This season, I was able to talk to Jeremy and congratulated him on his beautiful collection. He is such a sweetheart and held my hands the entire conversation.

I hope that you enjoyed my photo documentary, for the runway show itself, click here please. And for the post about my yummy outfit, click here please.
