Sandra Bullock at the Golden Globe Awards

Sandra Bullock Bottega Veneta

Yesterday, the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. A rare phenomenon was seen in California: Rain. But the weather couldn`t put a damper on Sandra Bullock`s stunning appearance in the amazing orchid chiffon evening gown by Bottega Veneta from their S/S 2010 runway collection. The dress had a wonderful, outstanding colour and the transparency was very up-to-date. The combination of the signature knot clutch by Bottega Veneta and the triple platform pumps by Casadei in purple suede leather with the extraordinary jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz (Her showroom in New York is located at 580 5th Avenue by 47th Street) was just perfect. Her hair was in a loose up-do that had a modernized 1930`s look with soft curls and waves.

The brunette was nominated in two categories and won the award for best actress (drama) for her role in “The Blind Side“. Many stars wore rainbow-coloured ribbons in memoriam of the Haiti earthquake but Sandra Bullock took it one step further and donated $1 million to the victims of this horrible disaster.

To me, she was definitely the best acdress last night!

The World Premiere of Sherlock Holmes

World Premiere Sherlock Holmes

The Claridge`s is truly the coolest old-school hotel in London. That might have been the reason why Rachel McAdams stayed there last weekend like me. She had arrived already Thursday to promote her new movie „Sherlock Holmes“ directed by Guy Ritchie (Madonna`s ex-husband). The actress had to squeeze herself into tight boned corsets to play Holmes` temptress Irene Adler. At her side will be acting Jude Law as Dr.Watson and Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes. The action-packed movie will definetely be spectacular in terms of the costumes.

On Monday, Dec 14th the world premiere took place at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square where Rachel McAdams showed up in this amazing one-shoulder embellished grey gown by Andrew Gn from his 2010 spring collection. The expected blockbuster will be in theatres Christmas day.

Stay tuned as I am having another exciting surprise for you from London that you`re not gonna want to miss…!

The Birkin Bag

The Birkin Bag

The Birkin Bag was launched and named after the famous actress and singer, Jane Birkin in 1984. During a flight Jane Birkin was sitting next to Hermès-CEO Jean Louis Dumas and told him about her problems finding the perfect shaped and seized bag. She described him her dream model that she received shortly after that incident.

Jane Birkin

The Birkin Bag was born. It is a fashion icon- to me incredibly amazing- a mixture of a classic piece worth investing in and a total trend item. Many famous ladies carry this model. Victoria Beckham is said to own over a hundred.

But even if you have the money to buy it, does not mean you can. There are long waitlists in the Hermès stores. And in general it is even hard to get on that list. There are even waitlists for the waitlists and if you manage to get on, you have to be patient for approximately 2 years. But if you are lucky, the minute the orange box is opened, your heart will start beating faster. That bag is a real treasure and even comes with a rain cover for it. Besides it is a great investment because you can resell it at the same price you bought it, even after having used it.

There is a great book about all the different and funny stories to get one: „Bringing Home the Birkin“ by Michael Tonello. If you want to have an easy access to a real one: www.luxury-shops.com and www.créateursdeluxe.com sell new and used models in excellent condition. Watch out, the minute they come in, they go.
