Dianne and me

Meet my glamourous girlfriend Dianne Brill! The incarnation of a vixen with her signature features like the bouffant platinum blonde hair-do, the perfect eye make-up with long lashes and the amazing hourglass figure was known as “The Queen of the Night” in the Eigthies. The American maneater modeled for big names like Thierry Mugler, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood and wrote a book how to become a sex goddess with the title “Boobs, Boys and High Heels”. I had enjoyed reading it long before I met her at a party in Zurich where she is living now with her family.

Dressed to Kill

Since 2003 she has an eponymous line of make-up that is inspired by the boudoir. Her love for detail shows in the most special and cute packaging that I have ever seen for beauty products. Have a look at my favourites named adorably “Panties in a Bunch”: six little lipglosses called for example Frilly Thong or Satin Hipster. This set is such a nice gift for a girlfriend as it looks like a box of chocolates. I mean how can you not love glosses in candy form? Her false lashes come in a set of three with glue included and are the best ones I know.

Last weekend was my birthday and one of my lovely girlfriends gave me a wonderful present that I would like to share with you: A manicure set by Bally. It is made of grained nude coloured calfskin and the inside lining is lace-printed silk. Very à la mode and still so practical.

You can order it at the Bally website.

Balenciaga Paris – The new Scent

CIMG4146

Last weekend I went to Paris and got a truly adorable present for the launch of the new Balenciaga scent: A personalized engraved perfume bottle. To me, this is such a wonderful idea. A lovely gift that every girl would adore, something very special.

CIMG4121In anticipation of Valentine`s Day, the famous couture house Balenciaga Paris is launching its first new fragrance. After almost 15 years of absence in the fragrance business, the new scent named simply “Balenciaga Paris” is meant to revive the house`s perfume label. Created by the award-winning perfumer Olivier Polge of IFF and inspired by Balenciaga`s designer Nicolas Ghesquière, it is in the floral chypre family with accentuated violet. The scent is not as powdery as expected due to the natural effect of the violet leaves, instead it has more of a metallic freshness to it. I love the traditional ingredients like carnation, violet, cedar and patchouli that are transformed with a new contemporary twist.

Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, is the face of the advertising campaign shot by Steven Meisel. The scent debuts in most countries in the beginning of February.

Happy smelling!

Trend S/S 2010: Body Art

Body Art

Have you always dreamt of getting a tattoo but would never dare to do it? Now is the time to experience how it would be.

Body Art is an upcoming trend this summer. Fake tattoos or draw-on markings are fun and last until your next shower.

After the ink painted arms Rodarte showed in New York, Jean-Paul Gaultier was next to send his models with gothic graffiti-style messages down the runway. Karl Lagerfeld, the master of trendsetting, had Peter Phillips (Chanel`s art director of make-up) design stencils in shapes of the signature chains, logos, birds, pearls and blossoms for the Chanel S/S 2010 show. Those dainty prints that were hand drawn on the models added that fierce twist to the romantic look.

If painting seems too difficult, try some fun tattoos to order. Start experimenting! Remember, the only limit is your own creativity!

In Particular “Particulière”

After the mint green “Jade” phenomenon, Chanel is setting another trend for your finger tips and this time be early enough to get your hands on one of those bottles coming out in the beginning of the new year. The grayed taupe colour with a brown undertone named “Particulière 505” was featured at their S/S 2010 fashion show.

To be honest, Chanel is only confirming an already established trend by OPI. Their colours “You don`t know Jacques” (a dark grey), “Over the Taupe” (a beige brown) and “Parlez-vous OPI” (a greyish purple) are in the same colour family and existing bestsellers. If you want to cut down your waiting time for Chanel`s shade, opt for those substitutes.

I love all these colours anyway as they are soft, subtle and suit most of the skin colours and outfits well.

See you at the Chanel counter or OPI shop!

Do you mint?

Do you mint

The moment Chanel models paraded down the Fall 2009 runway with mint green nails, I went finally crazy. It looked so cotton candy, reminding me of a mouth-watering sorbet melting softly. When MAC had launched their Sugarsweet” collection last spring, their shade of green “Peppermint Patti” had been sold out immediately.
The same happend when Chanel`s Jade Nail Collection went on sale on Friday, Sept 11th at the N.Y.C. Fashion`s Night Out. Fashionistas grabbed every bottle they could get, probably as an investment. At ebay the little treasures went for up to $200.- (the retail price was $25.-).

In Europe, Chanel 407 Jade was only available at a few spots like Harvey Nichols in London. Germany or Switzerland did not receive it at all (but the cover model wore this perfect hint of shimmer for the november issue of German Vogue). How crazy is that?
Hollywood`s Eyebrow King Damone Roberts created with OPI his signature shade “Damone Roberts 1968” based on the wall colour in his salons (in Beverly Hills and N.Y.C.) and not surpisingly it was sold out fast.

For those of you that have missed the hype, I have some amazing – for your wallets utterly unique- suggestions to get a trendy green on your nails. Essie created for this winter a beautiful shade called „Mint Candy Apple“ and OPI have „Hey! Get in Lime“ in their brights collection. For the Zurich based readers, Beautyssima at the Rennweg has a wide range of OPI products.

Do you min2

If you think that you would never wear mint green nails, have a look at my way of working it. This outfit would look double-cool with it. But please do not start sucking your thumbs even if they will look so yummy!

Benefit Cosmetics

benefit1

As I am crazy for make-up, I am totally in love with Benefit Cosmetics. The cute packaging, the fun names (who can resist if Kitten goes to Paris?!) and the really amazing quality is what makes it so excellent. For the holiday season they sell special edition sets (i.e. Celebutante, Glitz Glam and Gloss or my place or yours Gina) that are great gifts for your girlfriends or for yourself. So be dazzling and glam it up with an irresistible red pout, rocking smoky eyes or just that little soft glowing touch. Experiment and have fun! I hope that you will be inspired by these different holiday looks. And for the Zurich based of you, they just opened a lovely Benefit counter at Jelmoli.
