Casa Jondal

Opened in June 2020, CASA JONDAL has immediately become my favorite lunch place in Ibiza. When you arrive from the parking lot, it looks like a simple finca at first glance. But as soon as you enter inside and look to sea, or take a side look at the lounge area, you feel transported to a different and magical place.

CASA JONDAL, located in the middle of the eponymous beach, is considered the best restaurant on the island and is certainly one of the most exclusive. A winning combination of exceptional product quality and an excellent location that you can both enjoy while sitting on the beautiful, shady terrace under the twining savin juniper trees.

The food is amazing and it is the perfect location to enjoy lunch among dear friends as you can actually talk, because there is no music. I love the Caesar salad, the tomatoes with spring onions and the catch of the day. The absolute CASA JONDAL highlight on the dessert menu and culinary hard to beat is their cheesecake!

This summer season at CASA JONDAL is set in style with an exquisite Off-White™ takeover. Capturing the spirit of the iconic beach location, this limited-edition capsule collection embodies the carefree vibes of Ibiza while staying true to Off-White™’s visionary style. Among the standout pieces in the collection are espadrilles featuring the iconic Jondal-red stitching, along with two tote bags crafted from raffia and canvas, both adorned with captivating «CAN’T WAIT» graphics through printing and embroidery. Adding a touch of contrast to the warm tones, a macramé sarong in natural shades perfectly complements the stylish swimsuits available for both men and women.

CASA JONDAL is also the perfect place to spend the day at the beach, when you prefer not being blasted with loud music. On the massive wooden beach beds you have a fantastic view over the entire bay to the open sea. The location and view of the yachts there can hardly be surpassed and you can spend a wonderful time here until late in the evening. Towels, benches, and other elements are carefully designed to also showcase Off-White™’s iconic logos, arrows, and a blend of ecru and Jondal-red accents, creating an immersive experience for all fashion lovers.

It is really hard to get a table, so book in advance …

My Look: Hola Madrid!

Greetings from Madrid where I spent the most amazing weekend one week ago! On Saturday the sun was shining and we went on an interesting sightseeing tour through the city visiting the Royal Palace, the Museo del Prado and all the must-see places of the Spanish capital.

My look: Shearling and leather coaticon by Balmain, kickback trousers by Alexander McQueencream white wool sweater by Givenchy, Susanna leather ankle boots by Chloéicon, fringed checked cashmere scarf by Burberry Prorsum, Linda sunglasses by Tom Ford, necklaces and quilted lambskin mini 2.55 vintage classic flap bag, both by Chanel.

You have heard it a gazillion times from me, but I would like to emphasize it again. If you have enough space to store your pieces, keep them, there will always be a time again. Speaking about my mini 2.55 vintage flap bag by Chanel for example, this size was discontinued. I got mine from my parents when I turned 18 (Thank you for always spoiling me!). The bag is still sold on the internet in pre-owned conditions and in very high demand. Some consignment stores will even put you on a long waiting list.

The name of the 2.55 classic flap bag refers to February 1955; the month and year in which the style was introduced. This mini one is made from lambskin and has a single flap with a double C turnstile lock. A single chain strap can be worn either on your shoulder or in cross body. Talking about vintage… it looks like it just has hit the shelves.

Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza

«(The Loewe woman) is bohemian at heart – she’s very controlled but she knows when to let go.» – Jonathan W. Anderson

I have seen the beautiful collaboration between LOEWE and Paula’s Ibiza before as it is exclusively available online at MATCHESFASHION, but once I visited the Ibiza summer shop that features all those airy, dreamlike pieces, I was fully drawn to them. I admit, fashion, I am your slave…

IBIZA SUMMER SHOP

Pop-up shop at Ibiza’s MACE – Museum of Contemporary Art.

Coinciding with the Guerlain collection exhibition, LOEWE will present vintage pieces from the Paula’s Archive; the island’s original cult fashion destination, whose prints feature in this summer’s collaboration.

From the 30th June until the 30th August

Museu d’Art Contemporani Ronda Narcis Putget s/n Dalt Vila

Opening times:
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-14:00 | 18:00-22:00
Sunday 10:00-14:00
Closed on Monday

So let me explain you a little further what LOEWE’s special collaboration is all about. Paula’s Ibiza is the iconic boutique and cultural phenomenon of the 1980s and 90s whose indelible legacy lives on through the dedicated work and unbound artistry of its founders.

The new collaboration was conceived by LOEWE creative director Jonathan W. Anderson, who first encountered Paula’s on childhood trips to the Balearic island. Exclusively for the special S/S 2017 line, Armin Heinemann, Paula’s German-born co-founder, provided a selection of original prints from the archive as well as garment designs adapted from Paula’s best-selling pieces. LOEWE‘s ateliers translated these elements into a timely womenswear capsule, combining the essential qualities behind Paula’s success of ”harmony, exuberance and freedom” with LOEWE‘s own core values such as ”functionality, modernity, and superior craftsmanship.

Your favourite restaurant?
There is a beautiful restaurant in BARCELONA near my studio that has become like my office where I meet my friends, LA PART DELS ANGELS. The name stands for this little quantity in the wine that evaporates in the barrel, it is the angel’s share. For me, it is such a beautfiul name as I am always working with invisible emotions.

The Spanish Influence in Sicily

The Spanish Influence in Sicily SS15ADV SS 2015 DONNA NO LOGO (2)

The Spanish influence on the Sicilian traditions and colors is the inspiration for the images of DOLCE & GABBANA‘s beautiful S/S 2015 advertising campaign. Traditional elements deriving from both countries combine together to give the pictures a touch of Mediterranean sensuality. Domenico Dolce photographed the campaign under the artistic direction of Stefano Gabbana.

Both, the women and the men campaign, feature José Maria Manzanares, a 28 years old Spanish bullfighter. At the age of 12 he faced his first bull. He inherited his skills from his father and grandfather and made his debut on the arena before the age 20. Today he’s one of the most talented bullfighters in the world. I have to admit that I am totally against bullfighting but the costumes look amazing.

Female models: Bianca Balti, Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Sharipova and Blanca Padilla
Male models: Travis Cannata, Xavier Serrano and Misa Patinsky

Greetings from Barcelona-Sandra Bauknecht

Greetings from Barcelona where I went this week with La Mer for the launch of their new eye care product that I will soon tell you more about. I stayed at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Barcelona, which is located in the center on the shopping mile Passeig de Gràcia. Outside of the hotel before we left for the press conference, those photos were taken. The weather was sunny and extremely warm for the end of October which made this trip even more amazing.

An Exclusive Gastronomic Experience

Audemars Piguet-Sandra Bauknecht-Dinner Experience

Yesterday, I had a crazy afternoon, driving back from Como to Zurich where I had literally fifteen minutes to get changed. Then I jumped in the next limousine to go to Basel to attend an exclusive gastronomic experience hosted by Audemars Piguet during Art Basel.

Roca Brothers

The famous watch manufacturer had invited the Roca BrothersJoan (head chef), Josep (sommelier) and Jordi (in charge of the desserts), from Spain to prepare a very special dinner.

El_Celler_de_Can_Roca_exterior

Their famous restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Catalonia, Spain which opened in 1986 was first located next to their parent’s restaurant Can Roca, but moved to its current purpose built building in 2007. It holds three Michelin stars and has been named the best restaurant in the world by the magazine Restaurant in 2013, after having been ranked second in 2011 and 2012.

Audemars Piguet -Dinner Experience Art Basel

The cuisine served by the restaurant is traditional Catalan, but with an interesting twist. Personally speaking, I find their dishes based on perfumes, and with unusual presentations, the most captivating.

They have created menus based on fragrances such as Calvin Klein’s Eternity or Carolina Herrera. This has resulted in a perfume being released by the restaurant itself, called Nuvol de Ilimona, which we were able to smell last night during the first dessert served, a lemon distillation. Smelling and tasting the food at the same time is an orgastic explosion.
