At the IWC Top Gun Gala Event

IWC Gala Event

IWC Schaffhausen‘s gala event under the motto “TOP GUN” was the absolute culmination of this year’s SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie). What a night!

“Our aim this evening was to create an emotional experience for our guests, based on the story of our Pilot’s Watches: a story that started in 1936 with the Special Pilot’s Watch and has been part of IWC Schaffhausen’s DNA ever since,” said IWC CEO Georges Kern.

Many A-list Hollywood celebrities followed his invitation to celebrate the launch of the brand’s new Pilot’s Watch collection.

In the presence of celebrities like Cate Blanchett, Jean Reno, Ewan McGregor, Ronan Keating, sporting legends Boris Becker, Luís Figo and Zinédine Zidane, German actors Herbert Knaup, Thomas Heintze and Moritz Bleibtreu as well as top model Adriana Lima, I enjoyed an unforgettable gala evening in a stunningly decorated Palexpo Exhibition Hall rounded off with a performance from the legendary Bryan Ferry. And not only actor Ewan McGregor was entranced by Adriana Lima’s stunning long legs… (see photo below).

A Night in Portofino

P1000756IWC’s gala event “A Night in Portofino” brought together well known faces – including many Hollywood celebrities. Guests arrived on the red carpet and were able to browse through the beautiful exhibition that showed Peter Lindbergh’s Days in Portofino on their way to the main hall where they finally arrived in the carefree days of the 1950 and `60s.

The entire evening was outstanding showing a “making-of“ film of the shoot and an impressive performance of Zurich Opera House, with a 60-strong orchestra and tenor Neil Shicoff.

Another highlight of the night was also when Tim Jefferies and Georges Kern started to introduce the Friends of the Brand. When all celebrities were on stage, you felt like being at the Oscar’s.
Enjoy all those beautiful photos of a night to remember.

IWC’s New Masterpiece

Time is precious

There is nothing sexier than a big statement men`s watch on a slim fragile woman`s wrist. Imagine that stunning trendy look: sequined top, skinny distressed jeans, boyfriend`s blazer, fringed scarf, sloughy bag and strappy sandals combined with that IWC Portofino watch. Cool but still very feminine.

Swiss watchmaking company IWC Schaffhausen is producing masterpieces that are not only attracting watch connoisseurs but also delight the admirers of luxury and fashionable brands.

IWC Masterpiece

IWC is famous for their pilot watches that stand for the Maison`s DNA: tradition, perfection and passion for the engineer`s art. Among men, those pieces have always been must-haves, some even highly collectables.

The Swiss company`s newest work of art comes this time in form of a book: “IWC Schaffhausen. Engineering Time since 1868” chronicles IWC`s fascinating history while leaving bestselling author (my favourite) Paulo Coelho to describe the origins of the individual product families and famous cartoonist Enki Bilal to illustrate these fictional short stories.

I always find it hard to find a nice gift for a guy that is not in the price range of a Lamborghini. Therefore I am really happy about this gorgeous book (CHF 250.-; in English, German or French) that will be available at www.iwc.com and in bookshops from the end of this month; advance orders are now being taken.

Last Thursday,  I was at the vernissage and lucky to browse through the exceptional chef d`oeuvre  before the official launch date. I truly love the visual aspect of the book along with Coelho`s art of writing.
