Casa Jondal

Opened in June 2020, CASA JONDAL has immediately become my favorite lunch place in Ibiza. When you arrive from the parking lot, it looks like a simple finca at first glance. But as soon as you enter inside and look to sea, or take a side look at the lounge area, you feel transported to a different and magical place.

CASA JONDAL, located in the middle of the eponymous beach, is considered the best restaurant on the island and is certainly one of the most exclusive. A winning combination of exceptional product quality and an excellent location that you can both enjoy while sitting on the beautiful, shady terrace under the twining savin juniper trees.

The food is amazing and it is the perfect location to enjoy lunch among dear friends as you can actually talk, because there is no music. I love the Caesar salad, the tomatoes with spring onions and the catch of the day. The absolute CASA JONDAL highlight on the dessert menu and culinary hard to beat is their cheesecake!

This summer season at CASA JONDAL is set in style with an exquisite Off-White™ takeover. Capturing the spirit of the iconic beach location, this limited-edition capsule collection embodies the carefree vibes of Ibiza while staying true to Off-White™’s visionary style. Among the standout pieces in the collection are espadrilles featuring the iconic Jondal-red stitching, along with two tote bags crafted from raffia and canvas, both adorned with captivating «CAN’T WAIT» graphics through printing and embroidery. Adding a touch of contrast to the warm tones, a macramé sarong in natural shades perfectly complements the stylish swimsuits available for both men and women.

CASA JONDAL is also the perfect place to spend the day at the beach, when you prefer not being blasted with loud music. On the massive wooden beach beds you have a fantastic view over the entire bay to the open sea. The location and view of the yachts there can hardly be surpassed and you can spend a wonderful time here until late in the evening. Towels, benches, and other elements are carefully designed to also showcase Off-White™’s iconic logos, arrows, and a blend of ecru and Jondal-red accents, creating an immersive experience for all fashion lovers.

It is really hard to get a table, so book in advance …

Rest in Peace Virgil Abloh

Virgil Abloh, the acclaimed artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection and founder and CEO of Off-White, the label he founded in 2012, died of cancer on Sunday, according to a post from his verified Instagram account. He was only 41.

«We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues,» the post read. «For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture

A trained architect, Abloh, who also worked in Chicago street fashion, entered the world of international fashion with an internship at Fendi in 2009, alongside American rapper Kanye West. The two then began an artistic collaboration that would launch Abloh’s career into founding Off-White. The first African-American to be artistic director at a French luxury fashion house, Abloh was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018. Abloh’s design aesthetic which bridged streetwear and luxury clothing was described as transformative by the The New York Times. According to The Wall Street Journal, he reached a level of global fame unusual for a designer.

His death has shocked the world of fashion and many industry leaders pay tribute to the late designer who leaves a big impact on the way we dress behind.

Rest in Peace, Virgil Abloh!

The Ever-Popular Espadrilles

The official start of summer is coming soon, so it’s time to pack away our boots and trade them in for airier shoes, like the ever-popular espadrilles, the absolute summer shoe.

This season, they take tying to a whole new level being trimmed with crisscrossing laces all over the shoe, eye-catching details made for not only tropical vacationing but also a stroll through the city. If you live in a city like Zurich, you’ll appreciate the cobblestone-friendly footwear so much.

The F/W 2018 Hiking Boot Trend

Guess who didn’t bring flats or socks, but managed to pack the peep-toes? This has probably lost you a few friends in past days. But those times are over.

For fall, we’re going up — to the mountain that is. Hiking boots are one of the biggest footwear trends of the season and they’re giving traditional western, motorcycle and knee-high boots some competition.

The boots have certainly gained traction in the past few months. There’s Gucci’s Flashtreck sneaker  which is flying off the shelves and there’s Off-White’s collaboration with Timberland, which spawns a pair of gorgeously stompy velvet boots, a unique take on the classic footwear staple.

How to style them: Fashionistas all over the globe don’t save them for days with severe weather warnings only. They wear them year-round with everything from jeans and corduroys to silk dresses.

Here are some more of my favorite «Duke of Edinburgh–worthy hiking boots» available at the moment:

Virgil Abloh to Lead Men’s Design at Vuitton

LVMH has appointed Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, who came to prominence as Kanye West’s creative director, to lead men’s design at Louis Vuitton. His first show for one of the oldest and most powerful European houses in the luxury business will take place in June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.

The appointment, widely rumoured in recent months, follows the departure of Kim Jones, Abloh’s predecessor at Louis Vuitton, in January. Last week, it was announced that Jones would become the men’s designer at LVMH-owned Christian Dior, replacing Kris van Assche.

Kim Jones, Abloh’s predecessor at Louis Vuitton is now at LVMH-owned Christian Dior.

Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today. His sensibility towards luxury and savoir-faire will be instrumental in taking Louis Vuitton’s menswear into the future,” said Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman & CEO.

Virgil Abloh with Naomi Campbell at his Off-White™ S/S 2018 show.

It is an honor for me to accept the position of Men’s Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton. I find the heritage and creative integrity of the House are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times,” stated Virgil Abloh.

Who is Virgil Abloh?

Born in Rockford, Illinois in 1980, Virgil Abloh is an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, and designer. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison, he completed a Master´s Degree in Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in a curriculum founded by Mies van der Rohe. It was here that he learned not only about modernist design principles but also about the concept of multi-disciplinary working.

Virgil Abloh’s brand Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™ was started in 2012 as an artwork titled “PYREX VISION.” In 2013, the brand premiered a seasonal men’s and women’s fashion label showing runway collections during Paris Fashion Week since 2015. Abloh has also presented his work at major design institutions around the globe by the likes of Harvard Graduate School of Design, Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and the Rhode Island School of Design.

In 2019 he will have a major exhibition of past and current work at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, Illinois. In 2015, Virgil Abloh for Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™ is among the finalists of the LVMH Prize. He has been awarded various prizes, most recently winning the British Fashion Awards Urban Luxe award and International Designer of the Year at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2017.

The Hoodie

Trending now is the hoodie, but not just a hoodie… I am talking oversized, logo embellished, expensive and sold-out hoodies! The streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris have been filled with showgoers cocooned in those must-haves, and celebrities like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian are stepping out in hoodies that don’t call for any pants.

Suddenly, the hoodie becomes a luxurious wardrobe piece that you can dress up with a pencil or ruffled skirt and heels. But how much should you pay for a hoodie?

My favorite this F/W 2017: Cotton hoodie by Balenciaga
it comes with a hefty price tag of approximately CHF 600.00.

If you are maxing out your credit card for one of these beauties below, don’t feel guilty! It is worth this season… and if you don’t want to, no worries. You can always buy a CHF 10.00 hoodie and maybe look just as cool.

White Boots and Booties

After this week’s post about the must-have glitter boots, see today what else is trending in footwear for F/W 2017. As seen on the runways (from left to right in collage: Victoria Beckham – Marc Jacobs – Narciso Rodriguez), white ankle boots and booties are the preferred choice to due their versatile nature and nonchalant aesthetic.

This season, we are spoiled for choice — more so than ever before — when it comes to interesting white styles that will give your cold weather wardrobe that extra element of cool. Please find herewith the tip of the iceberg.

Off-White c/o Mytheresa Capsule Collection

Luxury online retailer MYTHERESA and 2013 launched fashion brand Off-White collaborated on a special capsule collection which will be sold worldwide exclusively from today. The collection, that consists of 8 pieces, picks up on Off-White’s high-minded take on street wear that embodies multiple juxtapositions, featuring lose shapes and street style in combination with very feminine details such as soft pastels and tight corsages.

An exciting look behind-the-scenes was given to both of the brands followers on social media through the videos “CUT HERE” (to watch part2 and part3 of the video trilogy, click on the highlighted text please), showing the making of the exclusive capsule collection. For the hero piece of the line, the khaki coloured Mackintosh, followers on social media were furthermore invited to be part of the creative process by deciding on the length of the coat.

The concept for the capsule collection was to embrace the internet’s relation with fashion, to empower the public and broaden while gaining additional fashion critics. The idea is that the garment is labeled with a series of marks. People can chime in with their opinion on where the garment should be cut. I take in the suggestions, but ultimately will make the final decision.” Virgil Abloh, Creative Director Off-White.

The Off-White c/o mytheresa.com exclusive capsule collection will be presented within a dedicated editorial story, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and the possibility to shop the looks directly.
