Ibiza Dinner

Ibiza is a very special place. It is my happy place. A special, even sacred island where you can feel free to be yourself, to express yourself. People who come to the island love this indescribable energy, this freedom. It is a place to heal, to take decision, to relax, to recharge your batteries or just to have a good time.

Yesterday, I was invited at my friend’s stunning house for a beautiful Spanish dinner among dear friends. With breathtaking views over the bay, we enjoyed sunset drinks. The intensity of the island heightens at sunset as heat and energy radiate from the rock and you get to experience something special.

With my beautiful hostess Ana-Karina de Paula Allen

AK has immaculate taste, no wonder she is Communications Director Head of Jewellery at British Vogue, Tatler and Vanity Fair London and a patron of British Fashion Council. Her beautiful  villa boasts a mix of contemporary architecture keeping touches of Moroccan influence within the classy decor.

With London based jewelry designer Sabine Römer, who is also from Frankfurt originally like me.

For dinner, AK and her husband treated us to some amazing Balearic Island seafood and Spanish fusion delights. Enjoy some of the impressions. All details of my outfit will follow shortly.

Thank you so much for having me and for being part of my journey!

LoL, Sandra

Casa Jondal

Opened in June 2020, CASA JONDAL has immediately become my favorite lunch place in Ibiza. When you arrive from the parking lot, it looks like a simple finca at first glance. But as soon as you enter inside and look to sea, or take a side look at the lounge area, you feel transported to a different and magical place.

CASA JONDAL, located in the middle of the eponymous beach, is considered the best restaurant on the island and is certainly one of the most exclusive. A winning combination of exceptional product quality and an excellent location that you can both enjoy while sitting on the beautiful, shady terrace under the twining savin juniper trees.

The food is amazing and it is the perfect location to enjoy lunch among dear friends as you can actually talk, because there is no music. I love the Caesar salad, the tomatoes with spring onions and the catch of the day. The absolute CASA JONDAL highlight on the dessert menu and culinary hard to beat is their cheesecake!

This summer season at CASA JONDAL is set in style with an exquisite Off-White™ takeover. Capturing the spirit of the iconic beach location, this limited-edition capsule collection embodies the carefree vibes of Ibiza while staying true to Off-White™’s visionary style. Among the standout pieces in the collection are espadrilles featuring the iconic Jondal-red stitching, along with two tote bags crafted from raffia and canvas, both adorned with captivating «CAN’T WAIT» graphics through printing and embroidery. Adding a touch of contrast to the warm tones, a macramé sarong in natural shades perfectly complements the stylish swimsuits available for both men and women.

CASA JONDAL is also the perfect place to spend the day at the beach, when you prefer not being blasted with loud music. On the massive wooden beach beds you have a fantastic view over the entire bay to the open sea. The location and view of the yachts there can hardly be surpassed and you can spend a wonderful time here until late in the evening. Towels, benches, and other elements are carefully designed to also showcase Off-White™’s iconic logos, arrows, and a blend of ecru and Jondal-red accents, creating an immersive experience for all fashion lovers.

It is really hard to get a table, so book in advance …

Ibiza life at its best. The island is mystical with an unbelievable energy and it is believed that it has a strong magnetically force blessed by the gods. You can unleash your inner moon goddess representing dance, fertility, sexuality and creativity. Here you see me on the terrace of Nobu Ibiza before going out…

Hublot Goes Ibiza

After Mykonos, Capri and Porto Cervo, HUBLOT conquered another Mediterranean jewel last week, inaugurating a pop-up boutique on Ibiza for the summer. It was also an opportunity to unveil the Classic Fusion Chronograph Ibiza, an innovative watch in blue ceramic, limited to only 50 pieces, that draws its creative inspiration from the island, its festive nature and its symbolism.

Ibiza the white island; like its immaculate traditional fincas, stands out against the pure azure sky and overlooks the crystal-clear blue sea. This Mediterranean pearl, imbued with bohemian nonchalance, harbours elegant, intimate places and radiates the festive atmosphere of the season.

HUBLOT has set up shop here for summer 2019, dedicating its blue-and-white Classic Fusion Chronograph Ibiza model to the island. Crowned with a blue ceramic bezel, the 45-mm case encloses a chronograph movement, held on a bi-material strap in blue rubber and white alligator. As a nod to the hippy spirit that is part of Ibiza’s charm, the Peace and Love symbol features on the seconds counter drawn at 3 o’clock on the dial.

A horological dedication to the enchantment of Ibiza, and a way to treat yourself to celebrate the summer.

Dioriviera

Do you remember when fashion lovers around the globe were craving for the limited edition pieces, such as the Book Tote, that were only available in DIOR‘s Mykonos pop-up store (for the previous post, click here).

This season, DIOR presents DIORIVIERA, a new capsule collection created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, that celebrates the beauty, leisure and art of farniente. A bright and sunny wardrobe, like an invitation to travel, dedicated to the most delightful Mediterranean getaways, the promise of an eternal summer, from Forte dei MarmiCapri to Mykonos, from MarbellaSaint-Tropez to Ibiza. Great news is that the beautiful items are this season all available online and of course in the respective local holiday boutiques.

My Look: My Summer of Love

Looking for the perfect luxurious resort wear? Than meet my friend Nadine Arton. The German born designer launched her first collection, which was previously called GlamOnYou in 2008. She draws inspiration from her travels and immersion in other cultures which has a great influence on her styles. Conveying a timeless sense of elegance and sophistication, her beautiful collections are characterized by beautifully flowing fabrics, colorful prints and exquisite draping.

Tap into the Ibizan hippy chic way of life. Crafted in Spain and inspired by Paula’s impressive print archives, Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson turns holiday memories into pieces that channel the amazing vibe of the iconic White Isle and its iconic boutique.

If you are looking for the right make-up to live up to this amazing vibe, look no further than to the summer collection by BY TERRY with the eponymous name: HIPPY CHIC.

«The sun is a true love story between the skin and the light,» says BY TERRY founder Terry de Gunzburg, «and so I created powders to give a warm, healthy glow – with or without a holiday!»

Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza

«(The Loewe woman) is bohemian at heart – she’s very controlled but she knows when to let go.» – Jonathan W. Anderson

I have seen the beautiful collaboration between LOEWE and Paula’s Ibiza before as it is exclusively available online at MATCHESFASHION, but once I visited the Ibiza summer shop that features all those airy, dreamlike pieces, I was fully drawn to them. I admit, fashion, I am your slave…

IBIZA SUMMER SHOP

Pop-up shop at Ibiza’s MACE – Museum of Contemporary Art.

Coinciding with the Guerlain collection exhibition, LOEWE will present vintage pieces from the Paula’s Archive; the island’s original cult fashion destination, whose prints feature in this summer’s collaboration.

From the 30th June until the 30th August

Museu d’Art Contemporani Ronda Narcis Putget s/n Dalt Vila
971300758

Opening times:
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-14:00 | 18:00-22:00
Sunday 10:00-14:00
Closed on Monday

So let me explain you a little further what LOEWE’s special collaboration is all about. Paula’s Ibiza is the iconic boutique and cultural phenomenon of the 1980s and 90s whose indelible legacy lives on through the dedicated work and unbound artistry of its founders.

The new collaboration was conceived by LOEWE creative director Jonathan W. Anderson, who first encountered Paula’s on childhood trips to the Balearic island. Exclusively for the special S/S 2017 line, Armin Heinemann, Paula’s German-born co-founder, provided a selection of original prints from the archive as well as garment designs adapted from Paula’s best-selling pieces. LOEWE‘s ateliers translated these elements into a timely womenswear capsule, combining the essential qualities behind Paula’s success of ”harmony, exuberance and freedom” with LOEWE‘s own core values such as ”functionality, modernity, and superior craftsmanship.
