My Look: Classy and Fabulous

Classy and fabulous – this is how I feel in SAINT LAURENT. After this week’s IG Live Beauty Talk for Mother’s Day with Yves Saint Laurent Beauty (owned by L’Oréal, which holds exclusive licenses for the name), this post is an other homage to the French Maison. Shot at the Zaha Hadid exhibition at Galerie Gmurzynska – I am wearing pieces from the brand’s beautiful Resort 2021 and S/S 2021 collections.

SAINT LAURENT, that is today owned by the Kering Group, is one of the most iconic brands of the 20th Century. Founded by legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé in 1961, it quickly revolutionized the way fashion and society intertwine with the launch of its iconic «Rive Gauche» collection just five years later, becoming the first couture house to launch ready-to-wear. Today, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, who was appointed in April 2016 after Hedi Slimane left the company, continues to honor the label’s trailblazing spirit with his empowering, dynamic and boundary-pushing designs.

My look: Two-tone ribbed wool jacketicon, pussy-bow ruffled silk crepe de chine blouseicon, cotton-blend satin shortsicon, Jodie rose-embellished white leather platform sandalsicon, Cassandra medium YSL-plaque dark green leather cross-body bagicongold-tone, enamel and faux pearl clip earrings, all by Saint LaurentJUSTE UN CLOU bracelet in rose gold with diamonds by Cartier, and Carrera Automatic Chronograph by TAG Heuer.

My Look: Morocco Style

Morocco was a constant source of inspiration for Yves Saint Laurent and it shows no signs of stopping for his successor Anthony Vaccarello. His boldly sophisticated blending of Moroccan-inspired elements has resulted in exquisite style. I adore this bohemian silhouette, rich gold tones, and the turban as a finishing touch to incorporate a bit of the beautiful North African country into my wardrobe. As I cannot travel to Morocco, Morocco comes to me. Have a great week!

My look: Cotton-velvet vest, metallic silk and Lurex-blend blouseicon, metallic striped woven tapered pantsicon, Zoe chain-embellished satin pumpsicon, Marrakech cord and silver-tone necklaceicon, Kaia mini leather shoulder bagicon, silk-blend lamé turban, all by Saint Laurent, and gold-tone crystal earrings by Etro.

Saint Laurent x Colette

As you already know, unfortunately Colette, the legendary Parisian concept store, will close forever on December 20, 2017 (click here for a previous article). Founded in 1997 by Colette Roussaux, the house has been led by her daughter Sarah Andelmanin recent years. But before the amazing mother-daughter team says good-bye to their Rue St.-Honoré space for good, they are hosting the last in a season-long series of pop-up takeovers.

But who will be the label that will be the last to fill Colette’s famous first floor? It’s Saint Laurent! This might sound bizarre as you might remember the clash the two brands had a few years ago after Colette started selling ironic tees that referenced the Saint Laurent brand («It ain’t Saint Laurent without Yves») when Hedi Slimane was at the helmet of design. After this incident, the label pulled its merchandise indefinitely from the store. Now, the wind freshened and Saint Laurent’s recent creative director Anthony Vaccarello has dreamed up a series of highly collectible collaborative items to celebrate the traditions and iconic memories of Parisian daily life for the pop-up shop. Rumors are out that this might be a test-run as Saint Laurent might be taking over the Colette space for its own store in 2018.

Vespa for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, 6,900 euros ($8,100), available at Colette

My favorite? The all-black Vespa, the most common and stylish way to get around crowded Paris.

Ruby for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello helmet, 2,500 euros ($2,900), available at Colette

And to go with it, you will need the glossy black and fully crystal-embellished motorcycle helmet made with Ruby.

Polaroid for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello custom vintage SX-70 camera, 500 euros ($587), available at Colette

Among the must-have pieces you will find something for every budget, from a customized vintage Polaroid SX-70 camera, a leopard-print Arkaic Concept skateboard, to a box of Pierre Marcolini custom chocolates and many more…

Arkaic Concept for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello leopard skate deck, 195 euros ($229), available at Colette

Pierre Marcolini for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello “Les Cœurs de Saint Laurent Dorés” chocolates, 49 euros ($57), available at Colette

Should none of that get your attention, check out those pieces below…

Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello fetish toy, from 250 to 395 euros ($294 to $463), available at Colette

Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello set of stickers, 25 euros ($29), available at Colette

Steppin’ Up the Game With These Cult Boots

Hot off the runway, these glitter must-haves are the absolute cult boots this season!

Saint Laurent‘s latest Creative Director, Anthony Vaccarello, created those slouchy, knee-high boots covered in sparkle, that catch the light in all the right ways and grounded most of the looks on the fashion house’s F/W 2017 runway.

Like a disco ball for your feet, the ultimate show-stopper, they have been handcrafted in Italy and encrusted with 3000 Swarovski crystals that cover even the signature cone heel. Needless to say, they’ve taken over social media since they first appeared and dominated many Instagram feeds.

YSL Spring Look 2017 – The Street and I

ysl-spring-2017-the-streets-and-i-collectionysl_spring_look_2017ysl-spring-2017-makeup-streetart-collection

Having been a huge Saint Laurent fan over the past seasons, I was curious how Anthony Vaccarello’s debut at the French Maison would be. Obviously, it was ’80s glamour for the party girls. For the show, blazing against the night sky, was the famous YSL logo with a Y back at home that went missing under Hedi Slimane.

yslss2017S/S 2017 runway

ysl-logoThe logo is back…

Vaccarello even took the logo into the fabulous stiletto heels (love those). Cathy Horyn of NYMag made me laugh, she said that in this case YSL stands for Young Parisian Designer’s experiment.

You definitely cannot go wrong with the brand’s Spring 2017 makeup collection, so-called «The Street and I». A piece of YSL and definitely lighter on your wallet. As you might have already guessed from the mood photos, this collection is inspired by graffiti, music, Los Angeles, New York, London, Shanghai and Paris. The colors are vibrant, modern. If you are loving orange than you definitely can’t miss out on this collection. Take a closer look! It is in stores now.

My Personal Tribute to Hedi Slimane

Sandra_Bauknecht_Saint_Laurent_looks

Rumors had been going on already, but only last week we got the confirmation that Hedi Slimane is leaving Saint Laurent. It was only a four-year tenure, but the designer wove a serious fashion tale, definitely in my closet. I went crazy when his first collection (Cruise 2013) for the French Maison hit the shelves.Saint Laurent

In 2012, when Slimane started, he first changed the name YSL to a simple Saint Laurent and ushered in rock ‘n’ roll influences. He included menswear into the women’s runway shows and created iconic pieces such as biker jackets, the Janis heels, the Sac de Jour bag that he presented every season in other shades. Due to this, he designs never went out of style but on the other hand, it got a little boring after a while.

Saint Laurent is under the helmet of the Kering giant and to add fuel to the fire, a likely successor might have been already chosen: Anthony Vaccarello, who was handpicked by Donatella Versace to spearhead the Versus brand, and was named its creative director last September.

French Fashion carrousel is turning as Raf Simons (Dior), Alber Elbaz (Lanvin) and Alexander Wang (Balenciaga) had left their posts last year.

Below you can enjoy some of my favourite outfits that I wore during the last years designed by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent.

Met Gala 2013 – Chaos to Couture

Met_Gala2013

Each year, the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art holds the Met Gala, the fashion event of the season and the party of the year, to celebrate the newest the exhibition. This spring, it will be about PUNK: Chaos to Couture, on view from May 9 through August 14, 2013, will examine punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today. “Since its origins, punk has had an incendiary influence on fashion,” said Andrew Bolton, Curator in The Costume Institute. “Although punk’s democracy stands in opposition to fashion’s autocracy, designers continue to appropriate punk’s aesthetic vocabulary to capture its youthful rebelliousness and aggressive forcefulness.”

If you want to find out more about the exhibition, please click here.

Enjoy the best looks from the red carpet of the Costume Institute Benefit last Monday. On top, you can see Sarah Jessica Parker who took the night’s punk theme to heart, and went for this stunning Giles Deacon dress, combined with a Philip Treacy punk hat and plaid Christian Louboutin boots. Madonna understood the invitation well and showed up in Givenchy.

The Met Gala – Inside the Party of the Year

Banks

A piece of art: Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou F/W 2012
