In Denim We Trust

Ladies, step away from the sweatpants, we are falling back in love with denim this summer. From the bootcut to the rebirth of ’90s baggy jeans, the choices are versatile. One thing is for sure… say good-bye for now to the typical skinny jeans. Opt for versions with special details such as the Mugler ones.

I put together a selection of styles to simplify your search for summer jeans that all made it into my closet. Enjoy those patchwork styles, revived vintage models, and those new cuts and unexpected seams.

Levi’s Re-Edition 517 high-rise bootcut jeans by Valentino
Jeans don’t really get any cooler than Levi’s®, especially when they’re made in collaboration with Valentino.

These shorts are meant to look like they’re being worn backwards. How cool is that?!

Those cargo-like pockets are a flattering detail with a distinctly vintage feel.

Belted high-rise boyfriend jeansicon by Balmain
Boyfriend jeans are the cut of the season and a cool alternative to all those skinny jeans we wore in recent years.

Reminiscent of popular styles from the ’70s, they make your legs look 2 meters long.

My Look: Oh!

Oh! Wait.. how old am I? Probably too old for being in the playroom of Gstaad Palace hotel. However, I still have that inner child in me which also translates from time to time in my choice of fashion. Candy colors, soft shapes, and cute prints have always attracted me, as they are providing a grown-up way to add a playful edge to any look. The key to staying young? Not growing old in your mind!

My look: Crochet-knit cotton-blend jacketicon, and fringed polka-dot crochet-knit cotton mini skirticon, and The Whirl leather clutch in pinkicon, all by Bottega Veneta, leather over-the-knee bootsicon by Alexander McQueen, pearl and crystal necklace by CHANEL, and logomania superstition scarf by Louis Vuitton.

My Look: Baby It’s Cold Outside

April weather is truly something… from sunny spring weather it dropped to freezing temperatures and snowfall last week. Here you see me on the balcony of my suite at Baur au Lac in Zurich, where I enjoyed wearing my pillow booties and this powerful blazer. Sarah Burton took her team to Wales to prepare for Alexander McQueen‘s F/W 20 collection, drawing inspiration from the nation’s long heritage of folklore and craftsmanship. Tailored from wool-blend crepe woven with touches of silk,  the shoulders are adorned with ruffles resembling butterfly wings – they’re backed in vibrant red satin, a color symbolizing protection according to Welsh tradition.

My look: Ruffled layered satin-trimmed wool-blend crepe blazericon by Alexander McQueen, Maddy ribbed-knit sweater by Khaite, Moto stretch-leather leggingsicon by The Row, Astro Pointue 85 red pillow booties, and Paloma S mini bag, both by Christian Louboutin, long pearl necklace and matching wide pearl bracelet, both by CHANEL.

My Look: Power Suiting

The famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said «Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing to take away.» From the power of his words, modern power style begins! I love to incorporate tailoring that embodies the ultimate juxtaposition between the masculine and the feminine. In speaking about dressing for success, a power suit is one that lives at the intersection of conservatism and boldness. Modern, powerful, and sexy, add a pair of heels that command authority and play with the accessories. My masculine watch challenges the traditional norms of femininity and exudes confidence, allowing me to express strength and perseverance. Being in line with Saint-Exupéry, definitely not a piece to take away from me…

My Look: My Funny Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! I hope you get spoiled to the fullest and celebrate the most important thing in the world, LOVE! Thank you to all of you for completing every one of my days by reading my blog. Fashion makes me so happy and I love what I am doing. The best way to feel kind of normal during those troubled times.

This week I went back to Zurich and shot many beautiful looks at the Baur au Lac in Zurich. Here you see me in one of my favorite restaurants, the Baur’s wearing my Valentine’s Day outfit for today. Now, I am driving up to Gstaad to be with my Valentine! Every love story is wonderful but ours is my favorite … cannot wait to see you!

The Red Dress Effect

Red: it signifies power, boldness, and confidence. Whether you’re choosing lipstick or clothing, you will definitely make a statement. The vibrant hue represents all things emphatic – stop signs, fire trucks, London’s telephone booths, Ferraris, Louboutin’s shoe sole, good luck (in Chinese culture) and of course fierce love! Personally speaking, it is my number one choice for holiday attire.

It has been asserted that it also acts subconsciously how you are perceived. Chris de Burgh‘s famous hit Lady in Red was inspired by the memory of when he first saw his wife Diane wearing a red dress. See, the red dress can even get you a famous husband, haha!

Click here for the previous outfit post.

Scientists speak of the red dress effect, a putative phenomenon in which a woman wearing a red dress, are perceived to be more sexually appealing than she is when wearing other colours. In primates, a visual indicator of female fertility occurs by way of swelling during the follicular phase and is correlated with increased estrogen levels. Here we have proof that men tend to act like primates, haha! Sorry I had to do it again…

Red dresses are a beautiful choice, also for New Year’s Eve. I put together some beautiful ones and as it is Christmas, they are all on sale. Happy shopping!

My Look: Black Friday

My kind of Black Friday! Due to the current pandemic, I have a phobia of long lines, and too many people. I am a big fan of online shopping anyway which also avoids pressured decisions. Don’t be tempted too much just because it is marked down. Invest in classic pieces that you will treasure forever like this outfit I am wearing in today’s post.

My favorite offer today so far? MYTHERESA offers 30% off already marked down pieces. Click here to browse through the large selection.

My Look: Shape

At the moment I love outfits that are cozy, yet stylish. The same goes for my footwear. My new white platform boots are from the ECCO SHAPE collection, that stands for innovative comfort from morning into night. Thanks to their platform and comfy block heels, you’ll want to wear them every day, whether you’re walking for fitness or just need something chic at the office. A leather inlay sole delivers additional on-foot delight. For cushioning and rebound, they have a moulded midsole formed with advanced, soft polymers, while an anatomical last ensures the whole foot is in natural motion. Here you see me doing all sorts of activities, from climbing in my secret garden at home, to reading, dancing and going for a walk. Those boots are so versatile and can be easily styled up or down. If you don’t want to sacrifice comfort for style, you will love the ECCO SHAPE collection.

My look: Two-tone wool-blend cape by Alexander McQueen, Donna wrap-effect ruffled stretch-velvet bralette, and Samba ruffled stretch-velvet leggingsicon, both by Year of Ours, SHAPE Sculpted Motion boots in white by ECCO, black hat with ribbon, leather and chain bracelet, and waist bag with chains and pearls, all by CHANEL.

My Look: Muse

Happy Monday to all of you! Being in quarantine made me realize once more to be grateful for every day when you wake up healthy, for every moment you can spend with someone you love. In challenging times it’s more than important to focus on positive things, work on your goals and dreams. Take time for yourself to think! Become your own muse, your own motivation, and your source of inspiration. You don’t need anyone else, just yourself. This will also help you to gain confidence and most importantly self-love which will make you shine from the inside.

My look: Monogram long sleeve fitted shirt, and Onthego MM tote, both by Louis Vuitton, pleated grosgrain-trimmed striped cotton-seersucker midi skirticon by Thom Browne, leather exaggerated-sole sneakers by Alexander McQueen, pink hair clip by Gucci, Loulou heart-shaped sunglasses by Saint Laurent, 4810 hoop earrings in pink gold with diamonds by Montblanc, Panthère de Cartier Manchette 22mm 18-karat rose gold and diamond watchicon and love bracelets, all by Cartier.
