Miu Miu x Mytheresa Capsule Collection

Looking for something exclusive and new? Then I have something for you today. Mytheresa.com is partnering with Miu Miu to launch an exclusive capsule collection for S/S 2017 that is hitting the virtual shelves today.

The line, which is inspired by Miu Miu’s beautiful S/S 2017 runway collection and vibrant signatures, features ready-to-wear, as well as handbags and footwear.

How cute are those girly embellishments and the playful spirit of the bright floral and polka dot prints?! My two most wanted: Embellished cotton T-shirt and printed cotton-terry skirt.

Embellished open-toe sandals

Among the limited edition must-haves are the brand’s bestselling ballet flats and slides updated in pastel-hued shearling.

Shearling ballerinas

To introduce the new collection, the Mytheresa has teamed with Danny Sangra, a Central Saint Martin’s graduate and renowned director, artist and illustrator, to produce a short film called “Shark” that I invite you to watch below. It is very fun. But be careful! You might be in a serious shopping mode after!

Dolce & Gabbana Takes Couture to Tokyo

Yesterday, Dolce & Gabbana showed their S/S 2017 haute couture «Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria» show at the Tokyo National Museum in Japan. It is cherry blossom, so-called sakura season at the moment and who has ever been during that time to Tokyo knows how beautiful it is to see this national icon of the Asian country. I have been there many years ago and love to indulge in those memories of pink petals plastering the streets.

Of course, there was an in-bloom cherry tree on the runway when the designer duo presented their almost 100 looks for both, men and women, to an audience of mostly local clients and other guests from all over the world.

Contrary to other shows that Dolce & Gabbana hosted, the models came mostly from Japan, a way of showing respect, which is the backbone of this Asian culture. After the show, the designers shook hands with their guests, another important gesture as for the Japanese, every person has a role to play towards the collective. It is always about «we», never about «me».

The collection was of course very much inspired by Japan, beautifully embellished and embroidered, something Dolce & Gabbana stands for. There were headpieces designed as branches of a cherry blossom tree or hand-painted floral motifs on lace. Just beautiful – have a look at the video below where you can get a great impression of this Italian artwork in Japan!

Rihanna Takes Marie Antoinette to the Gym

For her S/S 2017 Fenty x Puma collection, Rihanna imagined what Marie Antoinette would wear to the gym. I mean it is bad news for the late queen that it took 223 years until someone finally made her a collection of sport clothes. Good news is that the collection is so stunning that it was definitely worth the wait and that we are happy to enjoy it now!

Last fall, Bad Gal Riri made her Paris Fashion Week debut with satin corsets, lace fans, sweatshirts and pearls, lace do-rags and just about everything else you could imagine the infamous Marie Antoinette wearing while working out. Royal athleisure it was!

Olive-hued, satin-bow slides

Her absolute know-how can be seen in the footwear that still manages to sell out at every drop as those olive-hued, satin-bow slides that debuted earlier this month.

Now, more Marie Antoinette-inspired Fenty x Puma will be coming soon afterwards, with more arrivals expected to drop on a monthly basis until June, starting on April 15, 2017.

S/S 2017: New Chic in Pink

New_Chic_in_pink

Think pink, the S/S 2017 catwalks defiantly dictated fuchsia hues. The look? Nothing for sweet sugar princesses, pink has grown up and looks super cool on cape/dress hybrids, tight at the neck to elegant effect, as seen at Valentino or at Balenciaga where it was paired with purple spandex shoe-pants. I like those dresses together with Miu Miu‘s runway heels. Do you dare?

Dior’s Feminist Tee & J’Adior Kitten Heels

Last summer, Maria Grazia Chiuri was officially named Creative Director at Dior, making history as the first-ever female head designer in the prestigious fashion house’s 70-year history. To celebrate that milestone, the designer debuted her first collection for the brand with some to die for statement-making tees.

The ultimate must-have for all fashionistas among the midst of tulle, lace and an array of romantic gowns, is a white graphic t-shirt emblazoned with the words, “We Should All Be Feminists” that walked the runway tucked into a floor-length sheer tulle skirt.

Hurry up as they will sell out in the next hours for sure!

Rihanna wearing Dior’s feminist tee

Great news is that Dior announced that a portion of sales from its “We Should All Be Feminists” tees will benefit The Clara Lionel Foundation that was founded by the fashion house’s ambassadress Rihanna back in 2012 for whom «in the fight against injustice, inequality, and poverty, access to education and health is our most powerful weapon».

And if you happen to be at Dior, grab a pair of those ladylike kitten heels that are featuring an arched-heel slingback with J’Adior-printed ribbon trim. So cute!

Vetements + Juicy Couture

cover_vetements_juicy_couture

We feel it’s inevitable and crucial to create contemporary clothing,” says Demna Gvasalia, the Creative Director of Paris design collective Vetements.

The Maison Margiela alumni elevates deceptively simple pieces with meticulous construction, considered fabrics and playful proportions. For Vetements’ S/S 2017 collection, he put up a show that was entirely made up of collaborations with well-known brands from Manolo Blahnik to Levi’s, Juicy Couture, Carhartt, Reebok, Canada Goose, Mackintosh and Dr. Martens among others.

My favorite of the collaborations was the revival of Juicy Couture. Instead of recreating the brand’s famous velour and terry tracksuits, Demna Gvasalia gave them a modern update as second skin tops and trousers in electric colors with “Juicy Couture” written down the arms and across the bum in crystals.

The to-die-for maxi skirt reveals a thigh-skimming split and is lined with internal briefs. It’s made from glossy black velour inspired by Juicy Couture’s iconic tracksuits…

A real show-stopper! This black jumpsuit is made from cotton-blend velour in a one-shoulder, wide-leg silhouette. It works best with minimal accessories.

YSL Spring Look 2017 – The Street and I

ysl-spring-2017-the-streets-and-i-collectionysl_spring_look_2017ysl-spring-2017-makeup-streetart-collection

Having been a huge Saint Laurent fan over the past seasons, I was curious how Anthony Vaccarello’s debut at the French Maison would be. Obviously, it was ’80s glamour for the party girls. For the show, blazing against the night sky, was the famous YSL logo with a Y back at home that went missing under Hedi Slimane.

yslss2017S/S 2017 runway

ysl-logoThe logo is back…

Vaccarello even took the logo into the fabulous stiletto heels (love those). Cathy Horyn of NYMag made me laugh, she said that in this case YSL stands for Young Parisian Designer’s experiment.

Greenery – Color of the Year 2017

greenery_color2017

In collage: Ruffle trimmed single breasted wool coat by Gucci and nail lacquer in Greenery by Butter London.

Each year PANTONE, the global color authority, chooses one Color of the Year, like a snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude. For 2017, it is GREENERY, a refreshing and revitalizing shade, symbolic of new beginnings. This fresh and zesty yellow-green shade evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.

Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate. Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.

trendss2017_greenery
Michael Kors – Loewe – Emilio Pucci

Designers’ love of geekiness dictated an unexpected new power color on the S/S 2017 runways, making that vibrant shade a real showstopper. A life-affirming hue, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality. See below in my post some of the best pieces to utilise greenery from now.

And while you are shopping, prepare yourself a trendy Matcha tea to get you in the ultimate Greenery mood!

Chanel S/S 2017 Ad Campaign

ss_2017_rtw_show_decor_pictures_by_olivier_saillant_001chanel_ad_campaign

Graphic silhouettes stand out against an immaculate background like an arty collage. For the S/S 2017 ad campaign, Karl Lagerfeld plays with contrasts as he captures the metamorphosis of a contemporary creature, one minute a pop Lolita, the next a cyber punk. Bold colours or black and white, close-ups or bodies in motion, the campaign highlights the explosive combinations from a collection that is feminine and yet ultra-modern.

Both gentle and daring, a dress in navy blue silk crêpe and lace is coupled with the comfort of an embroidered tweed jacket whose motif echoes an electronic circuit board.

Beneath a knitted cardigan the lace of a playsuit in satin crêpe is revealed, while a coat in off-white silk and lace covers a black babydoll worn with suede booties adorned with touch fasteners. Opposites attract as the feminine spirit of lingerie fuses with the singularity of new materials and playful references to the online world.

The silhouettes combine striking pieces and an accumulation of pieces of fine jewellery. A silk jacket with a hypnotic print is embellished with sautoirs and necklaces in white or yellow gold, diamonds and multi-colour cultured pearls, and with rings and earrings in white gold and diamonds, from the Plume de CHANEL, Sous le signe du Lion, Camélia and Ruban collections. The high-tech aesthetic of two J12 watches in white ceramic completes the look.

A series of resin and silvery metal cuffs accessorise a patent leather jacket worn with the BOY CHANEL handbag, the iconic House handbag revisited here in a perforated white leather version.

A fanny pack nonchalantly clashes with a multi-colour cotton tweed jacket and skirt ensemble worn with a yellow crêpe de chine blouse.

Inventive and mischievous, the S/S 2017 campaign recreates the energy of the Data Center Chanel runway show. And the free spirit of the House of CHANEL gazes ever forward to the future.
