The North Face x Gucci

This will be probably THE collaboration of 2021! A collaboration which connects two brands with similar history and values, The North Face x Gucci celebrates the spirit of exploration in select locations around the world. Both brands have rich archives, and favoured pushing innovation and breaking the rules. The resulting collection features pieces with unique and distinguishing details to be kept for a lifetime.

We all are dreaming of getting away. Especially in the midst of a global pandemic that has so many of us huddled close to home constantly, it’s an alluring collection, in which we could go camping and hiking in style. I mean who wouldn’t like to sleep in a The North Face x Gucci tent!

The launch has happened very exclusively with just a few clients having the opportunity to shop the collection starting on the 8th of January online. I was among those fashion victims (haha) that clicked on the «add to basket button» and was lucky to get the must-have logo bomber jacket that sold out in seconds.

The collection is also available in a Gucci Pin – pop-up shop in Berlin from the 9th of January and in a few other uniquely designed spaces around the globe. From the end of January, the collection will be available to the public.

Real world meets virtual world: The North Face x Gucci collection is also available for avatars in Pokémon GO. Do you like the ready-to-wear, soft accessories, luggage, and shoes, as well as unexpected items for your next adventure?

The Teddy Bear Icon Coat by Max Mara

Founded in the city of Reggio Emilia in 1951, Max Mara represents the «epitome of Italian quality and craftsmanship.» The brand is adored for its coats and modern, sophisticated approach to wardrobe classics that transcend seasons and trends. Beautiful fabrics define each collection.

My personal hero piece: Teddy Bear Icon camel hair and silk-blend coat by Max Mara

An ode to extravagance in both form and fabric, the Teddy Bear coat shot to icon status on its debut in 2013. An «It Coat» from conception, the cocoon-like oversized cut and plush faux fur of camel hair on silk make it a must-have for women worldwide; Heidi Klum, Karlie Kloss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley a among them.

Julia Roberts’ favorite: Teddy Bear Icon Short alpaca, wool and silk-blend coat by Max Mara

Teddy coats can be seen everywhere, but I do love an original. The Max Mara teddy coat is a true classic, an iconic investment piece. Try it on and you will be instantly transported back to your bed. They are the coolest, coziest and warmest outerwear you can dream of. You won’t want to take them off and let’s face it, they look so damn good you don’t even need to worry about what’s underneath them.

Moncler Genius

F/W 2018 saw the birth of Moncler’s innovative Genius line – a groundbreaking series of monthly drops in which the iconic French house teams up with trailblazing designers of the moment. The F/W 2019 offering included Richard Quinn, Simone Rocha and 1952 presenting their signature take on Moncler’s key house codes with vibrant patterns from Quinn, elegant British florals from Rocha and bold colour palettes from 1952.

For the newest capsule, Moncler Genius has partnered with no other than Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli who states dreaminess, extravagance and traditions as inspiration behind those to-die-for pieces. The colour-block motif used for this collection – an exclusive pattern from Lemlem founder Liya Kebede, whose work supports African artisans.

My favorite pieces are below –  this gown is an avant-garde alternative to classic eveningwear along with the amazing ski jackets that are perfect for every day.

Baby, It’s Coat Outside

Summer, like every year, just passed too fast. But what is more beautiful than to wrap yourself in warm coats on cold days? Remember the insanely popular teddy coats of your childhood? They are back and are all you’ll want to wear this winter.

Whether you want an oversize style – reminiscent of the ’70s – a cropped big shoulder version – reminiscent of the ’80s – or a teddy coat in a color that’s not exactly subtle, there’s bound to be one that you love. Shop my favorites for F/W 2019 below, just by clicking on the highlighted text:

Coat Up In Style

With fall coats this cute and versatile, we dare you to pick just one. Sounds difficult, not this time! With these reversible options, you are getting two for the price of one. So you can stay ahead of the fashion game and coat up in style. Furthermore I have always loved the idea of reversible items,  they take up less space in your wardrobe and you can inconspicuously wear the same thing two days in a row.

Here are my favorite options available at the moment, just click on the highlighted text to be transferred directly to the shop:

The Game Changer: The Cape

Capes appeared on the fashion radar last year in full force, when an array of designers put their high-fashion spin on this classic cover-up. Personally speaking, I have been a fan of capes since forever because they are the perfect pieces to wear over voluminous shoulders, big sleeves or embellishments. The trend is thankfully still going strong and giving us good incentive to go hands-free when we wrap up this season. My advice, opt for a statement piece that will make heads turn. It can be inspired by the current ’70s bourgeoisie trend, come with a military vibe, be vibrant or knitted. Here are my favorite ones available with the power to elevate even the plainest of outfits.

Most Wanted: The Leopard Print Coat

Animal prints have been reigned supreme on the F/W 2018 catwalks, with leopard-print coats having a particularly strong presence.

Do you recognize me on this photo from 2004?
I am not blonde anymore but I still have this leopard coat…

Since many decades, fashion’s love affair with leopard print has been notably present in the glamorous world. This season, I recommend looking for a piece with contrast collars or cuffs to spice up the eye-catching look even more.

Below are my favorites to shop the trend now:

The Perfect Black Cape

For F/W 2018, it is one of my favorite trends: the comeback of the cape, so versatile and easy to put over even the biggest sleeves (click here for my look in the picture).

While being in London with my dear girlfriends, we had a heated discussion about finding the perfect black cape that is not overloaded with embellishments and I promised I would make a great selection which I am happily sharing with you today. Thank you, ladies, for your inspiration!

Here are the best pieces available at the moment (I also looked for the best deals…):

My favorite with its sophisticated black on black embroidery:

Classy and beautiful:

Preen Home

One of my favorite F/W 2017 pieces was the beautiful eiderdown coat iconby Preen by Thornton Bregazzi that gave birth to the designer duo’s first interior collection, Preen Home.

The eiderdown coat is crafted from waterproof crepe de chine and is featuring a swathe of clashing prints in this season’s signature black floral skull and purple flower bomb. The oversized cocoon coat includes a wrap belt embroidered with the message reading «out of the forest I came with my flowers». A firm editorial favourite, it has appeared in countless fashion publications including Vogue and Elle.

Preen Home is a «straight from the runway» collection, featuring prints from the ready-to-wear clothing line. Launching with pillows and eiderdowns, the designer duo plans to update the range with a new design every season.

Floral silk-satin quilted eiderdown

The roots of Preen Home can be traced to Bregazzi’s passion for vintage eiderdowns, that inspired these fanciful feather-filled pieces, taking comfort to its chicest level.

Moncler Ends Its Gamme Collections

This took me by surprise. Moncler announced that the house will discontinue its GAMME BLEU and GAMME ROUGE runway collections after the S/S 2018 season, announcing a new strategy in the coming weeks. Because of this development, they also part ways with Thom Browne and Giambattista Valli, who designed the fashionable sub-labels of the outerwear brand that has more than a $1 billion revenue per year. Browne was in charge for GAMME BLEUicon, the line for men, since 2009. Valli partnered first with Moncler in 2008 for GAMME ROUGE, the womenswear collection.

Moncler is highly successful at the moment with high growth rates. This, of course, brings competitors in the game, trying to get on the gravy train as well. So, Moncler might prepare itself for a new consumer behavior, faster and more volatile.

While I was in Milan a few weeks ago, the Italian outerwear brand opened its new 800-square-metre flagship on Via Montenapoleone with a fantastic party. They even transformed the famous shopping mile into a winter wonderland and fake snow was falling from above the windows. Inside, products from their different lines, still including the Gamme collections, are presented next to each other and not divided into different departments.

I am curious to hear more about the brand’s new strategy. The wheels in fashion are turning, and obviously faster and faster…
