Christophe Robin at Charles Aellen in Zurich

An invitation that couldn’t have been more perfect for me on a very hot summer day. My favorite Parisian coiffeur visited my beloved Zurich hair dresser for a morning full of laughter, beauty and the launch of a great new hair care line.

Nathanael, Charles, my humble self and Christophe in Zurich

As you already know I like the products by Christophe Robin a lot (for more info have a look at this previous post). Now they are not only available at Net-à-Porter, but also exclusively in Zurich at Charles Aellen Company. Charles took his whole team to Paris to train with the Robin staff known for being absolute experts in hair coloring.

Charles Aellen and his team with Christophe Robin

Beautiful salon I go to in Zurich: Charles Aellen Company

Aellen’s beautiful salon was the perfect backdrop to indulge into the world of Christophe Robin’s new hair line dedicated to make the dream of volume come true. I was skeptical towards those new products as in general everything that gives me volume makes my hair look dull and it tangles much easier. After having used it, I am completely sold. For the first time, I had nice volume that lasted for many days without looking frizzy.

What is the secret behind it? Robin told me that the biggest problem is that the hair cannot breathe when washed with volume shampoo. That is the reason why it collapses the next day. Therefore he was looking for an alternative providing volume that would first of all not damage the hair and that would stay for longer.

During a trip to Morocco, where hair care is considered an art de vivre, a lifestyle, he came up with the idea to use rassoul clay, also known as the most noble of clays, and rose extracts for his new cleansing volumizing paste. This unique formula creates real volume, noticeable from the first use and effects that build up day after day.

Its exclusive composition is 85% natural origin. Protected and fortified, the hair instantly shows more volume at the roots and density down its length. The best? When mixed with water, its surprising paste-like texture transforms into a light foam, creating a moment of pure well-being.

The hair care routine for long-lasting volume includes the following products from left to right:

Volumizing Mist 150ml
Volumizing Conditioner 250ml
iconDelicate Volumizing Shampoo 250ml
iconCleansing Volumizing Paste 250ml

I hope that you will like it as much as I do! Also try some of Robin’s other products, they are all amazing… While Christophe presented his line, he gave a tip for hair coloring. If you have the feeling it got too dark, just put some olive oil on at night on the freshly colored hair and sleep with it. You will be amazed in the morning by the result as it will wash the color out. Coconut oil by the way does not!

My Pool and Beach Essentials

Each year, I receive many products to test for the summer. After testing them all, I always like to show you a summary of my favorites. Those ones you see here have fully convinced me and I can only recommend them. If you are wondering why there are no facial products included, bare with me, they will be coming up shortly in a different post.

But first of all, it all starts with the right beach tote, doesn’t it?!

BEACH TOTE

«Making Memories» beach tote by Sensi Studio for Eden Being
Holidays are all about making memories. Therefore I have fallen in love with this exclusive beach tote the minute I spotted it at the Eden Being Pop-up Boutique at Le Bristol in Paris. It hits it on the head with its woven maxim. The perfect companion for the beach, the bag will carry everything you need, even a laptop fits in perfectly. Handmade in Ecuador to designs from the Milan based creative studio, it is crafted from toquilla straw with woven lettering – a unique and absolutely stylish piece.

IN THE SUN

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Wet Skin Body Milk SPF50+ 250ml for CHF 27.00
This very high sun protection can be applied on damp or on dry skins. Its wet skin technology forms a gel that repels water on the skin and maintains its protection. It doesn’t leave any oily or sticky finish on the skin, not even white marks which is very unusual for a sun protection that high.

Biotherm Waterlover Sun Milk SPF30 200 ml for CHF 47.00
This is Biotherm’s first eco-designed sun care with no compromise on sensoriality, with eco-tested SPF filters and a 95% biodegradable base formula for a lower impact on the water environment. Now you can better protect what you love: your skin, your family and the ocean.

AFTER THE SUN

Clarins After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-Hydrating 200ml for CHF 41.50
This moisture-rich cream with soothing extracts of watermelon, sunflower and mimosa promotes a radiant, even, long-lasting tan. It helps reduce peeling and flaking, while taking the sting out of hot, sun-baked skin.

SUN GOODIES

La Mer The Glowing Body Oil 95ml for CHF 120.00
My favorite! With its rich blend of vitamin E and nourishing oils, this luxurious body oil softens and conditions skin to create a natural, sun-kissed glow. It gives your skin a touch of shimmer and youthful luminosity.

Bio-Beauté by Nuxe Cologne Fraîche Méditerranéenne Cédrat & Néroli 100ml for CHF 35.00
This floral and fruity cologne takes you to the heart of the Mediterranean and can be worn in the sun. Its olfactory combination of Cedrat and Neroli subtly perfumes the skin and envelops it with a breath of freshness.

SWIMWEAR

Bikini by Wikini
Let me introduce you to Wikini, an Italian swimwear brand, that creates beautiful bikinis at affordable prices. And they even do modest Brazilian-style buttoms which can be rarely found. The models are packed in a jar topped with the fabric of your chosen bikini. So cute!
In Zurich available from July 20-22, 2017 at a pop-up shop at Residence K.

And now happy sunbathing…

My Look: Grecian Goddess in Provence

Mary Katrantzou has referenced her heritage for the first time for her S/S 2017 collection and I definitely couldn’t resist this «Hemera» dress which is printed with Grecian gods and has classic Cretan pottery patterns embroidered onto the shoulder straps. I teamed mine with a statement necklace and a striped cardigan on vacation in France.

My look: Hemera printed silk-georgette dressicon by Mary Katrantzou (40% off), floral-appliqué striped wool-blend cardiganicon by Gucci, gold-tone, tassel and stone necklace (50% off) by Etroicon, Elephant striped leather shoulder bag by Loewe, and vintage suede pumps by Yves Saint Laurent.

Happy 30th Birthday Eau Dynamisante

The world’s first ever treatment fragrance, Clarins Eau Dynamisante, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a limited edition bottle, accompanied by two special editions of Eau des Jardins and Eau Ressourçante. This has been the first eau de toilette that combines a perfume with the power of plants in accordance with the principles of aromatherapy and phytotherapy. In a single step, this eau de toilette perfumes, hydrates and tones. The non-photosensitising formula is safe enough to wear in the sun which makes it the perfect product to wear at the beach.

I like to rub it vigorously over all parts of the body after I shower, or simply spritz it on in combination to my traditional fragrance.

Eau Dynamisante Limited Edition 30ml (CHF 22.00) and 100ml (CHF 69.50)
The classic aroma of lemons for vitality – freshness – firmness.

Eau des Jardins Limited Edition 100ml (CHF 69.50)
The sensual power of roses for harmony – freshness – comfort.

Eau Ressourçante Limited Edition 100ml (CHF 69.50)
The calming source of iris for relaxation – energy – harmony.

The Straw Hat Dress

This S/S 2017 season, French designer Jacquemus showed the so-called Santon wide-brimmed straw hat at his runway presentation that has become a must-have among fashionistas. This week, he unveiled a new summer dress, that is made entirely of eight straw hats sewn together.

Being unlined and made 100 percent of straw, it sounds like something very itchy and comfortable to wear, but I adore it. I just imagine that it will break the minute I sit down, but it is definitely a museum piece and I would love to own it. Available to shop exclusively at Ssense, the Jacquemus design retails for €2495.

Why throwing on one straw hat if you can have eight… .

My Look: Rainbow Stripes

As you already know, I flew to Paris last week with Sisley and stayed at the wonderful Hotel Bristol. Those three days were incredibly busy and unfortunately the weather was not the best so I preferred staying comfortable in my rainbow stripes.

My look: Striped cotton-jersey topicon by Chloécropped high-rise wide-leg jeans and Falabella faux brushed-leather shoulder bag, both by Stella McCartney, embellished leather mid-heel loafers, and aviator-style metal sunglasses, both by Gucci, earrings by Dior.

Colette to Close Its Doors

This is truly breaking news –  Colette, the famous Parisian concept store, is closing down after 20 years. Saint Laurent will be taking over the Rue Saint Honoré location.

The founder of Colette, Colette Roussaux, and her daughter, Sarah Andelman, in their store.

Founded in 1997 by Colette Roussaux, the house has been led by her daughter Sarah Andelman in recent years.

The boutique became renowned for its extreme fashion edits, from high end designers to upcoming street labels, Colette had it all and combined this choice with an eclectic mix of lifestyle products. You could always find up-and-coming designers, such as Proenza Schouler, Mary Katrantzou and Rodarte.

Mary Katrantzou with me wearing her «Jewel Tree Dress» at Colette.

Personally speaking, I went to many fashion events that were hosted at Colette and it was always a pit stop during fashion week for inspiration. I shopped next to Kate Perry and partied with Mary Katrantzou during her launch event with Longchamp.

Colette, you will be missed! Stay tuned, the next breaking news will be coming up shortly as H&M will be announcing their next designer collaboration today!

Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza

«(The Loewe woman) is bohemian at heart – she’s very controlled but she knows when to let go.» – Jonathan W. Anderson

I have seen the beautiful collaboration between LOEWE and Paula’s Ibiza before as it is exclusively available online at MATCHESFASHION, but once I visited the Ibiza summer shop that features all those airy, dreamlike pieces, I was fully drawn to them. I admit, fashion, I am your slave…

IBIZA SUMMER SHOP

Pop-up shop at Ibiza’s MACE – Museum of Contemporary Art.

Coinciding with the Guerlain collection exhibition, LOEWE will present vintage pieces from the Paula’s Archive; the island’s original cult fashion destination, whose prints feature in this summer’s collaboration.

From the 30th June until the 30th August

Museu d’Art Contemporani Ronda Narcis Putget s/n Dalt Vila

Opening times:
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-14:00 | 18:00-22:00
Sunday 10:00-14:00
Closed on Monday

So let me explain you a little further what LOEWE’s special collaboration is all about. Paula’s Ibiza is the iconic boutique and cultural phenomenon of the 1980s and 90s whose indelible legacy lives on through the dedicated work and unbound artistry of its founders.

The new collaboration was conceived by LOEWE creative director Jonathan W. Anderson, who first encountered Paula’s on childhood trips to the Balearic island. Exclusively for the special S/S 2017 line, Armin Heinemann, Paula’s German-born co-founder, provided a selection of original prints from the archive as well as garment designs adapted from Paula’s best-selling pieces. LOEWE‘s ateliers translated these elements into a timely womenswear capsule, combining the essential qualities behind Paula’s success of ”harmony, exuberance and freedom” with LOEWE‘s own core values such as ”functionality, modernity, and superior craftsmanship.
